Please reccomend good sites for buying DVDs(more details inside)

Having gotten a DVD player for Christmas, I’d like to stock up for DVDs. However the retail stores around here charge stupid prices. $100+ for a season of ST:TNG? Preposterous.

I’d like a site that deals in canadian currency, or at least has it listed, so I don’t need to convert it. Same for shipping, if possible.

Amazon.com or its Canadian subsiduary are always a good place to start. In addition to generally good prices for new DVD’s, they also often offer used items at lower prices.

Deepdiscountdvds.com is another good site. I don’t know how they are with Canadian sales though.

Star Trek and X-Files season are very expensive. Just a fact. They know how to soak dedicated fans. Most of the other dramas (like Buffy) are more like $50. And sitcoms are usually around $40.

Thank you two fellows!

An excellent Canadian retailer that always seems to have stock on hand and fast shipment times is C&L Internet Club. I’ve been ordering pretty much exclusively from them for a couple of years now.

$100 for a season of Star Trek is pretty reasonable. That works out to a little more than $4 an episode. Considering that your average two hour movie goes for $15 or so, I think it’s a bargain.

I myself am a fan of Columbia House. Their normal price is high, but if you are going to be buying a lot than it averages out. They have deals where they will give you half off or whatnot, so it will average out to a little over $10US a dvd. For tv shows, I think the best method is going through Ebay. If you are patient, you can usually get really good deals.

I recommend eBay or Half.com, especially if you don’t mind buying used DVDs (or as Blockbuster euphemistically calls them, “previously viewed.”)
