Please recommend some movies for my wife.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - what a borefest !

Girl From Mars -thanks. Some good suggestions there.

Kill Bill Vol 1. fits the bill(No pun intended)

Kill Bill Vol 2. might be hard for her to watch, they just don’t ever shut up in that one.

The Princess Bride maybe? What about Robin Hood, Men In Tights? Would she like Wallace and Grommit’s Curse of the Were Rabbit?

WarGames – a little dated, but drama, suspense, and a little smooching. Plus saving the whole damn world.
Demolition Man – totally underrated saturday afternoon flick starring Sylvester Stallone & Sandra Bullock. Lots of fish-out-of-water comedy, action, and romance.
Shaun of the Dead – zombie movie with romance or romantic comedy with zombies? You make the call.
Independence Day – Cheesy but fun and Will Smith really brings it home in this one.

What about the classic A Room With A View?

ETA: Or Sarah, Plain and Tall?

Willow
Legend
Blazing Saddles

of course!

ok, some less obvious suggestions then…

**
Ruthless People
Outrageous Fortune** (if she likes the above)**
Back to the Future
The Fifth Element
The Fugitive
Men in Black
Bend it like Beckham
True Lies** (and others of that ilk)

Here are some that have been left out up to now:

Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Bandits
Tank Girl
Get Shorty
True Romance

And of course:

Pulp Fiction

Physical comedies like Mr Bean or Rat Race or The Pink Panther or Kung Fu Hustle work well across language divides.

Maybe Dragonheart? What about The Dark Crystal? How about Cannonball Run, have you tried that? I rather liked The Brothers Grimm, but I don’t know if she would. Maybe Hook, or Jumanji?

Every Which Way But Loose
Any Which Way You Can

Clint Eastwood is a badass bareknuckler with an ourang-outang as a sidekick.

You can’t miss.

Mr Bean would be excellent, because there’s very little language involved. Some old Benny Hill, too for that matter.

Showdown in Little Tokyo - Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee play mismatched cops taking down a drug ring. There’s a little romance for Dolph.

Rapid Fire - Brandon Lee and Powers Booth play the witness to a murder and the cop assigned to the case, respectively, and Brandon gets a little romance.

Moulin Rouge! - from the director of Strictly Ballroom. Not much action but plenty of music, comedy and romance.

How about Ladyhawke? There was quite a bit of romance and action in that movie. Some comedy with Matthew Broderick. I hope she likes this one.

Ocean’s 11 and Ocean’s 12 were awesome. Don’t recall if they had romance (I think?)

In that same vein, The Italian Job. Very good action.

(I am speaking of the recent remakes of these films. I cannot speak for the originals but I’m sure they were very good.)

How about “Ever After”? It’s a little light on the action, but it’s a fun romantic comedy based on Cinderella. There’s a swashbuckle air to it. One of my favorites.

If you can find it, The Tenth Kingdom is an excellent mini-series. It’s something like 10 hours long, so it will take a while to get through. Here’s the plot synopsis from IMDB:

Very light, an unexpected romance, lots of puns, lots of drama.

What about the Pixar movies?

Sin City might be good.

How about Ace Ventura: Pet Detective?
