Please suggest a PS2 game for my wife

Hey, I’m hoping you guys can help me find some PS2 games for my wife. All the games I own are too difficult or uninteresting to her. She’s interested in games that don’t require great hand-eye coordination, or quick video-game reflexes. Also, she’d prefer something that doesn’t take hours and hours of dedicated playing to enjoy. Just something light and easy, and an interesting storyline wouldn’t hurt. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I liked grand theft auto for ps2, story is funny and isn’t too hard, My husband bought it for me, and I really like it.

I don’t own a PS2 myself, but two games that your wife might be interested in are ICO and Shadow of Destiny ,which have received good reviews, and which are adventure games without much action AFAIK.

You can find reviews here:

It’s true that Ico isn’t very action-y, but it does requre some not-very-guided puzzle solving, and she might get frustrated by that.

How does she feel about plain old puzzle games? I have Tetris, and I play it all the time. Maybe a fairly cutesy game like Harvest Moon would be more her style. I really like it, myself.

Hey - if all else fails, the Sims is due out for the PS2 next month.

I would recommend Animal Crossing or Super Monkey Ball 2 but they are for the Gamecube.

Having trouble thinking of games for the PS2 that fit that guidelines. Some RPGs don’t require quick reflexes but take hours upon hours to play. Puzzle games often don’t have much of a story. Quick action games can be short, carry a story, but require good reflexes.

FFX was good in that you could play for a half hour to an hour and advance the story line and then put it up for the night. It was also consistently fun throughout. There wasn’t a large learning curve to adjust to the battle system or level ups. Pretty straight forward from the beginning. Unfortunately it was addicting enought to make you want to play for several hours at a time.

Yeah ICO may be difficult though walkthroughs are easily available on the Net. Then Shadow of Destiny may be the perfect game for Mrs davidw; the ign reviewer says it has a great story but is a bit short and easy which seems to be what she wants.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I ran them by my wife, and she seemed interested in Ico and Harvest Moon, so I may pick one of those up this evening for her.

I play Cookie and Cream with DH. It fun, cute and not too hard. Plus, you HAVe to play it together, and we always end up laughing.

Isn’t Rez out for the PS2 yet? It’s a fairly non-demanding shooter…it’s also very pretty and has a good soundtrack.

Spyro. Any of the three. Absolutely adorably cute, and easy to learn. I LOVE it.

The Sims for PS2 release date has been pushed back to January 2003. There was an announcement on thesims.ea.com, but I can’t find it now. This page has a blurb.
