These aren’t enough to warrant spoilers, just some fairly vague, but supposedly from Broccoli, rumors I’ve seen at the MI6 site and another site whose name escapes me (Command something?).
Supposedly, the next film will follow pretty closely onto “Casino Royale” with Bond attempting to hunt down the organization Le Chiffre worked for (I think headed up by Mr. White). Also might include a cameo from Eva Green in the form of a video message Vesper left for Bond to help him in this quest.
So, though it is way early to take anything other than with a grain or ten of salt, would you like this notion of him going after the modern version of SPECTRE?
There is a very strong rumor floating about that Bond will become involved with a hot sexy babe, who has close ties to the movie’s villain. How’s that for a spoiler?
Having worked indirectly with the Broccoli family, one thing I can tell you is that nothing has been decided yet.
They have a general idea what direction the next Bond films are going, but each film goes through many, many re-writes, and that often changes their original ideas of where they thought they were heading.
Unlike other franchises, I think they wait to see how the current film is received by fans and critics, and take it from there. By the fact that this film seems to have been a hit for various reasons, they will try to take the facets of this film that worked, and put them into the next film.
One thing I do know is that they have been trying to get Bond back to the original character. Now that Cubby Broccoli has died and his daughter is in charge, she seems to have taken some risky chances with Casino Royale that have paid off. My educated guess is that she will push that proverbial envelope a little further to see how far she can continue to bring Bond back from the cartoonish character he was becoming in some recent films.
The Broccoli family lives and dies with the Bond franchise. They have a tight reign over everything - from script and casting, to merchandising and product placement. They only do a Bond film about every two years or so, and spend every waking hour watching over their sole asset.
