PNW DopeFest!!!!!!

Breakfast? You have two choices:
Sophie’s. It’s on 4th avenue near Arbutus (Kits). North side of the street, big fork and knife outside. Good food, often packed.

The elbow room on Davie (downtown). They’ll bring the first cup of coffee, and after that you can “get off your ass and get it your own damn self, asshole.” Rudeness is the company policy

I don’t know if I’ll be able to join you. I work overnight (2 years and counting) and usually sleep from 6 a.m. Sundays until 2 in the afternoon, then take a nap sometime before going to work at midnight… Yes, that’s right, I actually go to bed earlier on the weekend.

My attendance will depend entirely on how I feel that weekend. If I’m physically up to it, I’ll be able to flip to the dayside.

Otherwise, enjoy the fair city!

I just looked up the Vancouver Holiday Inns. The downtown one seems to be $179 and up, and the “Vancouver-Centre” one (on Broadway, not really in the city centre, but pretty close) starts at $149.

So, any ideas where people want to stay? I’d like to make reservations by this weekend, in case they sell out. We might also want a back-up nearby in case they ARE booked.

Okay, Bob…which Holiday Inn is nearest the train station? And it is getting late…who needs reservations? Who is still coming?

You can get from the train station to downtown via the public transit Skytrain.
If you stay on Broadway (near Oak, as i recall), you’ll need to drive or take a cab.

So for Spouse and me, it sounds like the downtown is the best option, since there is public transportation to it. We’ve done Vancouver before, and the skytrain is a great way to get around.

We’ll make our reservation for the Downtown Holiday Inn and Amtrak by this weekend. We’re looking forward to a weekend of festivity!

Anymore input as to who is still coming besides caircair and Mr. caircair?

It looks like Silent_Rob may not make it, and I haven’t heard from Odieman lately, so I don’t know about him.

Anyone else know that they either can or cannot make it?

Hello?

Well, Scotti, you’d know I’d love to be there, but alas, I don’t have a ride.

Besides you know my vacation plans are in England this year…

Reservations have been made for both train and Vancouver Downtown Hotel. Suggest if those going down haven’t aready made reservations they do so IMMEDIATELY, as the train is booking rapidly and so are hotels.

It’s okay, honeylove. I know we can’t compete with England.

But I know you will be there in spirit, and I love you dearly.

Amarinth and I will be sharing a hotel room, in the same hotel as you and spouse, caircair. We are going to be having a marvelous time…even if no one else comes.

All are still welcome and wanted, though…so please? All of you who I just KNOW are dying to meet all of us…chime in whenever you feel like it?

I didn’t even know it was a competition! Besides, you really don’t want me there for two weeks. Trust me.

Astral projection mode on

I love you too, Scotti.

Just to make absolutely sure - the hotel is the one at 1110 Howe, right?

Here’s a bump…I am leaving town for several day’s vacation, so I wanted to make sure that everyone has a chance to post to this thread if they are still coming.

So far we have:

rjk
amarinth
caircair/spouse
Scotticher

confirmed.

There were several others who said they were coming for sure, but we haven’t heard from you lately. Could we get an update so we can make final plans please?

I will be able to check this board, and access my aol account, to which I think most of you have the address.
So please speak up! The weather’s been beautiful, and Vancouver is such a charming city…this is bound to be fun!

Cheri

Scotticher, spouse and I will see you in Vancouver this Saturday, the 28th, at 11:30-ish.

Scotti-

Cervaise and I won’t be able to make it. Some very good friends are returning to Seattle that weekend and it is our only chance to see them.

We hope to see you all at the next event. Even though we know it will be hard, we hope you have a great time without us.

-K

I hope to see you Sunday morning for breakfast.

Hi guys!

Well, I’m home for a short time in between LA and Seattle for the M’s game.

The Milestones is the one on Robson. Barbarian, could you be so kind as to choose the place for breakfast? We will be staying at the Holiday Inn downtown, so something easy to get to from there would be lovely. I am going to email rjk and ask him to make reservations for 5 at 7PM for now…if we should hear from anyone else soon, I am sure there will be no problem adding to that number.

As far as Saturday goes, I think it would be best if we all planned to meet at either the train station at 11:30AM or at the Holiday Inn a little later. Any thoughts? We can decide how to spend the day when we hook up.

And katrina you little tease! I read your intention to come up, got all excited and then read your SECOND post and got all blue. But have fun with your friends, honey, and I will look forward to seeing you next time. Possibly on Whidbye Island in September, although I haven’t heard anything more from Danalan so I am not sure if that is still on.

Speaking of which, Danalan? I thought you were planning on coming this weekend? I hope you still are, please post here or email me and let me know what is going on.

Gads…I am so tired I am punchy, and I have to drive to Seatlle today. Ick.

Scotti

Despite not getting any mail (We know you were tired, Cheri!), I called Milestones anyway. The man says they don’t take reservations for Friday or Saturday evenings, and told me to call about 6 to get on the wait list.

Since downtown will be crazy on Saturday (Fireworks! The former Benson and Hedges Symphony of Fire), I’d say we call at 5:30, just to make sure.

See you all on tomorrow!

Okay, lets meet at the Holiday Inn on Howe at 1:00PM. That should give all of us plenty of time to get there and settled. We can decide where to go in the afternoon from there.

Dinner at 6PM at Milestones on Robson. Breakfast…oops, later on that. Barbarian chose the place, I will post it in a minute.

And sorry, Bob. I was, indeed, punchy. Sorry, and thanks for taking care of things.
