I just cancelled my Sirius subscription, and I need something(s) to listen to. I primarily (95% of the time) listened to the Howard Stern channels. I like the Kevin Smith podcasts, but need more.
Adam Carolla. The Adam Carolla Show is the main one, but he also does CarCast and Ace on the House which are only marginally about cars and home repair, respectively; they’re all mostly just Adam joking and complaining about stuff, with different co-hosts and guests.

A friend of mine has a great podcast called All Time Top Ten.
Each week, he and a guest each put together their own Top Ten list of songs for that week’s category. Categories such as:[ul][li]Top Ten Songs About Madness[]Top Ten Rock Wordsmiths[]Top Ten Break Up Songs[]Top Ten Songs About Sex[]Top Ten Rock Drummers[/li][/ul]
I and another friend of ours were his special guests this week. We did All Time Top Ten T.V. Theme Songs.
I’m putting the link in a Spoiler Tag because the Audio starts immediately when the window opens (and some people don’t like that).
I’m always surprised when I’m showing people my iPod and when they ask what I listen to, at podcasts, they say “what’s that?”. I loved Stern, too.
For daily listening, radio style, try Kevin & Bean.
Also, try Comedy Bang Bang, Doug Loves Movies, Alec Baldwin’s Here’s The Thing, Hollywood Babble-on and How Did This Get Made. Occasionally I like Moher Stories with Jay Moher, although it can get bogged down in sports. Thrilling Adventure Stories is good for a laugh now and then as well.
Are you referring to the tone of my post?
Or did you listen to the podcast and you’re referring to the sound of my voice?
If you listened, thank you for listening!
But, truth be told, I have no idea what meaningful descriptiveness is left to apply to Janice’s accent once you extract the valley girl. The valley girl accent/speech patterns are a foundation of how she speaks. I don’t know what’s left once that is taken but . . . apparently . . . I have it?
Sorry, meant to be an amusing throwaway comment. I don’t know much about regional accents in the US, but it sounded kind of northern border, Minnesota-ish or something.
I did listen to the podcast, it was very entertaining and will probably pick through a few of the others too. You’re wrong about Gidget, of course. The best TV theme tune is The Odd Couple.
Anyway, to not be entirely sidetracked, I recommend Pop My Culture, which is part of the increasingly large Nerdist group of podcasts.
Thanks for listening GuanoLad!
The other episode that I guested on was Top Songs Under Two Minutes Long. Because the songs were so short, we did the Top 20 instead of Top 10.
By the way, not only is the Gidget theme better than the Odd Couple theme but Sally Field was better looking than Tony Randall and Jack Klugman put together.

If you’re really into something, go search for podcasts about it. I have stuff I love about skepticism, atheism, HP Lovecraft, and some of my favorite shows like Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, and Walking Dead. But they’re only funny and engaging if you’re already interested in the subject matter, you know?
