Podcast Recommendations

I would like to get some suggestions for two distinct types of podcasts.

  1. I am interested in podcasts that cover American history after WW2 and before 9/11. Of particular interest are any that have to do with international relations, the Cold War, the CIA, or the inner workings of the government.

The Hardcore History episode about nuclear weapons is the gold standard for this type of podcast.

  1. This second category is much more nebulous, and the only term that comes to mind that covers it is “shock” podcasts. But that doesn’t quite convey the meaning.

I have recently listened to an episode of Loveline that was recorded with survivors of the Columbine shooting soon after it happened. I also heard two episodes that were recorded right after 9/11.

In a similar vein are episodes of Partially Examined Life and Don’t Get Me Started where the hosts where in shock and dismay about Trump’s election.

I am not wanting podcasts that look back to some seminal event. I am more interested in podcasts that are reactions as close to the event as possible.
