I’ve been being nagged by an 8 y/o the past few days asking where he should go in his Pokemon Heart Gold DS game.
My googling resulted in Red as the final fight. He’s done that. He has all the badges. Is there something you need to do so it says ‘the end’ There some button I can press so it rolls credits? Anyone have any idea what I’m talking about? Please help.
Once you’ve beaten the final boss, the game opens up - the plot is finished, there’s no more story, but you can go, finish filling your Pokedex, fight trainers you missed, or who want to fight again, that sort of thing.
The same applies to all the Pokemon games. There’s an ending to the story, but once you’ve passed that, you can just keep playing until you get bored, reach your personally determined goal, or get the next game.
In Red/Blue it opened up some new areas and new Pokemon, too…I never finished Gold/Silver so I don’t know if that happened there, too, although one might have been added in Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
Has he beat all the Kanto gyms? The game starts in the Johto region, where there are 8 badges then the Pokemon League at Indigo Plateau. When you win, the game is saved the credits roll, and you get a “The End,” but there’s much more to do. After beating the League, you can travel around Kanto (the location of the original Red/Blue/Yellow and FireRed/LeafGreen remakes) and get 8 more badges there. The Battle Frontier near Olivine City also opens up after Johto. Lots of fighting can be done there for various prizes. Other than that, though, the endgame is mostly just collecting everything and raising Pokemon to fight your friends (or strangers on Wi-Fi).
In Soul Silver, I just got into Kanto this morning and I’m at 10/16 badges. Right now I’m mostly focused on getting badges, but I’m always looking to collecting as well. If you’re okay with it, and your son is interested, I’d be happy to make a few trades. I’ll look up and post my friend code later if you want.
Bricker Jr says (with me transcribing like a court reporter):
First of all, there is no button where you can select ‘credits.’ You have to beat the Elite Four once, or beat them again (as many times as you want) toget the credits to roll. And after you have beaten the Elite Four a scond time, Red will re-appear on top of Mt Silver and you can battle him again.
Also, I want to add some more info. I suspect he’s already caught Ho-oh, but there is a way to capture Lugia. There is a man in Pewter City on a platform. He will give you the Silver Wing. Go to the Whirl Islands, find the Tidal Basin, and Lugia will just be there waiting on the water. (Suggested HMs Strength, Rock Smash, Surf, Waterfall, and Whirlpool). Maybe Flash, I don’t remember exactly. And of course have someone high level like a Parasect who knows False Swipe and Spore. That ends that!
Sorry to be bragging but I beat the game. I also haven’t talked to you in a long time. So hello! If you need any advice I’d be happy to help. And I’d love to do any battles or trades. I’m looking for Cleffa, Cleffable, or Clefairy and others.
One thing you can do is use the Pokewalker to obtain new Pokemon. That’s a help. Getting all first place in the Pokeathlon will help too. (I don’t know how it will help but it will.)
Find what’s in the Ruins of Alph if you haven’t already. There is a Lapras in the second floor of Union Cave every Friday, make sure to snag one. Complete stuff like catching roaming Pokemon (it’s very suspenseful to catch them.)
Also go to places such as Cerulean Cave to catch MewTwo.
There was a Fateful Encounter Arceus for Pokemon Movie 9. You can use the Arceus to unlock a event to get one of the trio of big, big legendaries (Giratina, Dialga, Palkia). Go to the Ruins of Alph and go into the house nearest to the east entrance. A guy will come barging out at you. He will take you into the Ruins of Alph. Something strange will happen and then you’ll vanish. You’ll wake up on the MISTRI STAGE. Cynthia, the Champion of Sinnoh, will lead you into a nearby house. There is a PC, a man who has an Abra who will offer to teleport you, and and a man who just blabbers about the Mistri Stage. When you’re ready, go back to th Mistri Stage with Cynthia and pick one of the edges of the triangle of the Mistri Stage. Awesome graphical efects will happen (it’s awfully cool and I’m sure you’ll love it) and afterwards and egg of the legendary Pokemon you chose will hatch and you’ll have a Level 1 of the Pokemon you picked.
Kids these days!
I’ve only had it a week though, so I don’t feel too bad.
I’m trying to avoid abusing my huge collection from Diamond/Pearl so I don’t have too many valuable Pokemon yet, but that also means I’m up for nearly any trade.
I just grabbed a Clefairy from GTS the other day, so I’ll breed a Cleffa. (Looking for a particular nature or is it just for evolution to fill out the Pokedex?) I’m working on getting starters right now, so a Chikorita or any Hoenn starters would be great. I’d also be willing to trade my Lugia for a Ho-Oh or another Lugia.
My friend code is 4813 0487 9145 for Soul Silver
Thursday or Friday afternoon/evening is best for me, but if BrickJr is out of school, I don’t mind doing things earlier in the day.
