Well, Bricker Jr is in the Dominican Republic for three weeks, so my usual abaility to dispense arcane Pokemon knowledge is substantially inhibited.
Happy to report that the device in post 112 is here and works. It creates a 512 KB .SAV file that can be loaded on the same or another retail cart. Tested by buying a new HeartGold game, untouched by human hands, and the transferring his game to it. Came up and worked perfectly.
How about Wednesday night? I finished up getting the starters, so do you have any of the following: Remoraid (preferably under lvl 10), Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, Seviper, Cranidos, or Shieldon. If not, the Torchic or any other starters (especially Sinnoh) are fine.
In case you forgot, I taught the Paras False Swipe via TM. She’ll learn Spore when he levels up to 17. Her other current moves are Leech Life, Stun Spore, and Scratch/
We all know you’re a secret Pokemon lover. Or at least you’re a semi-expert just through osmosis from BrickJr. (Quick! What are Dragon-type’s weaknesses?!)

You might be on to something here. Here we are fighting these giant creatures by scratching them or blowing bubbles when we could just be bribing them. “I’ll tell you what Mr. Dragonite. You don’t breathe fire at me and I’ll introduce you to this nice young Dragonaire in Box 8. I’ll even drop you two off at the Day Care Center!” Or imagine Pikachu after a drunken Vegas spree; he’ll practically beg to be put into a nice quiet Pokeball. This could even get past the restriction of capturing other trainer’s Pokemon. Why should you train your butt off and fight every day when that nice guy over there is offering you all the berries you can eat?
(Actually, you were partially correct, or fully if you take your scotch on the rocks. Dragons are weak to ice and dragon attacks.)
Well, good scotch is served neat – no ice. But I take your point. And I just had a nice conversation w/ Bricker Jr, who is delighted to find his DR Pokemon friends have SoulSilver, and is enjoying things greatly there.
But I read him some of this exchange and could hear him roll his eyes at my response, and then supply “ice” and “dragon” as the right answers. And he points out that in Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness, you CAN capture other trainers’ Pokemon.
And the Day Care Center reference I got on my own, so I’m not totally useless!

Well, I’m back from the wilds of Northern Vermont and I have a question for the combined Pokemon brain trust. A while back I managed to catch a Smeargle and I haven’t yet done much with him. Any advice on what moves to get him to Sketch? Preferably they should be moves I can find in Diamond.
I think 4PST is 7EST, is that fine?
I’ve never messed around with Smeargle, but I would probably go with a collection of signature moves(Mist Ball or Luster Purge from Latias or Latios respectively, Aeroblast from Lugia , or Ho Oh’s Sacred Fire, which is especially strong). Maybe throw in Extreme Speed for STAB and a first strike.
That’s great. I have a torchic, treeko, turtwig, and squirtle for you if you want.
If any of them have decent egg moves, I’ll take that one. If not, the Squirtle would be best.
I went ahead and levelled the Paras to 17 and replaced Stun Spore with Spore while I was giving it the Pokerus. However, I fed it a few berries, so the EVs are back to zero. I’m going to hop on WiFi now, just in case you’re early.

That’s the one. Its a pain to get Flamethrower on the evolved version (Torchic learns it at 43, the others not at all) and Aerial Ace is preferable to the Flying moves they pick up.
Other than the Chansey/Happiny, other things I have on hand include Smoochum, Snover, Bulbasaur, Charmander (w/ Flamethrower), and Mantyke. Or, perhaps, Mudkip. (I herd u leik them.)
ETA- We can do this tomorrow night if I already have what you want, otherwise we can try Friday or Saturday.
