How about now-ish? I’ll go ahead and get on and you can jump in whenever you see this post. Also, have you caught Latias (the one running around Kanto) yet? I still need to catch Latios, but when I do, would you want to trade them back and forth to take care of that Pokedex entry? Or perhaps just trade them outright?
Success! Thanks again for the trades. Nope, I haven’t yet caught Latias, unfortunetly, but i’ll happily trade them back and forth (or just forth) when and if I do.
I don’t think that was my end that died, something over there? At least we had good timing on the trades. Also, neither of yours wanted to learn new moves. I started to panic a little when I couldn’t cancel the evolution. I didn’t get a look at the Politoed, but your Scizor is pretty impressive.
My Politoed is an old party Pokemon, now generally being used as a HM slave. My Scizor is a bit* too* strong, unfortunetly; A combination of it largely being the only one in my current team i’ve had for most of the game plus it being pretty useful has meant it’s much higher level than my others. It’s been kept in the computer for a while while I try and train them up a bit to match.
I didn’t see all of its moves, but they can learn False Swipe at lvl 13 or in your case just use TM54 (I think it only costs $1000 at Goldenrod’s Department Store). If you’re going to have a Pokemon with that high a level and with such great Attack, you can probably spare a slot, since it must be getting 1-hit KOs with regular attacks. It could simplify catching a lot of the legendaries and huge pains like Chansey, since you’ll only need to worry about recoil damage
Insomnia struck, so I got around to catching some legendaries while the Dusk Ball gets a bonus. First, I finally got Entei, after having had him asleep and nearly dead for 2 weeks. That rounds out the wandering Johto legendaries, so if anyone wants to trade, I’m up for it to get the xp bonus. Second, I caught Latios, so as soon you’re ready we can trade Revenant. Finally, I caught Groudon* (who turns out to have great stats, unlike my Hoenn one). I got lucky and found a Johto Kyogre for cheap on GTS, so I don’t need to borrow one from someone with Gold. However, if any of you need to borrow Johto Groudon, I can spare him for a bit, as long as you feed him and scratch him under the chin. For that matter, I can loan a Johto Kyogre to someone with Silver, but I think I’m the only one around.
*-After you beat Red on top of Mt. Silver, Mr. Pokemon will give you an orb: Red for Soul Silver, Blue for Heart Gold. Go to the Embedded Tower south of the Safari Zone (you’ll need Surf and Rock Climb) and you’ll find Groudon (Silver) or Kyogre (Gold). Catch it and show it to Prof. Oak and he’ll tell you to get the other one, but it has to be caught in Johto. Show him the one from the other version and he’ll give you the Jade Orb, which you can take back to Embedded Tower and catch Rayquaza.
I have steered my son away from any sort of cheating devices, and he hasn’t really expressed an interest in them.
But this is ridiculous. It does appear that he’s lost his HeartGold game permanantly. We had high hopes it would show up in a day or two, but no such luck. I have thus bought hima replacement and if I know him he’ll simply shrug and start over.
But this irritates me no end. I back up my important electronic data. He had better than 200 hours of playtime on that game, and had captured ~375 of the 500-ish Pokemon available, and all of that effort is gone.
So this time I am going to find and buy a device that lets me back up his saved game, the sole purpose being to save him from a similar disaster.
Congrats! I could use any of the 3 lake legendaries if you’re willing to trade. I’ve got Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Entei, Raikou, and Suicune if you need them.
Ouch.
I don’t know of any way to back up saves on the DS unless you’re emulating, and that’s a mess in and of itself. If BrickJr needs anything I can breed, I’d be happy to give him a leg up. I can throw in a Lucky Egg as well to speed his levelling if that will help. I’ve also got plenty of berries if he needs help getting the rarer ones.
Those look pretty useful. I didn’t see a price, but do you know how much they are? My main beef with cartridge games, and especially the Pokemon series, is limited save files. Deleting hundreds of hours of work or shelling out another $30 just to replay a game sucks.
$25.99 plus shipping from Hong Kong. I have one ordered and on the way. I’ll report on results.
It’s obvious that a bit of creative work with this would let some cheating take place… (i.e., I’ll give you Super Pokemon for a garbage one, and you owe me a Super One to be named later.) Then just reload the old save file, and, hey bingo, I have my Super Pokemon back again, plus your I.O.U. for another Super Pokemon).
But my intention is to let him use this as simply a backup device, not as a part of gameplay… that is, the backup gets restored only in case of data loss.
Congrats! What was it?
I recently caught a shiny Gyarados, but since there’s already an automatic on in HG/SS, it isn’t as eye-catching. You have to look at the trainer info, and who wants to bother doing that?
I know about it, but I’ve never gotten it to work. My highest chains end in the 20s. A friend recently gave me his copy of Diamond, though, so when I start playing that I’ll be more thorough.
