Pokemon X and Y

Seeing this thread made me troll through craigslist for a 3DS and the game. I found one for $75 and pulled the trigger. I’m a newly minted 27 years of age.

Share your Friend Code when you get set up!

I don’t normally go in too much for forum-y friend code trading and game stuff but what the hell.

I’m a longtime pokemon player. This was the first game I thought I wouldn’t get on the handhelds because 3D. The screenshots looked awful and I always hated the cel-shading in stadium. After I finally saw a video two weeks before launch I was convinced. Looks a lot better in action!

Pokemon red, blue, yellow, silver, ruby, firered, diamond, soulsilver, black, and now Y are all on my shelf, and I’ve played through them all.

3DS friend code is 2165-5401-5652. I have no idea what I want to do with you guys exactly but hey why not. There’s always stuff like Bravely Default, Animal Crossing, and every other game that uses friend stuff a bunch.

Added you, Macca. Mine’s 2707-3052-0354.

I added you. I’m 2191-8930-6967. My Friend Safari is Fighting: Breloom / Pancham / Meditite.

That’s the benefit of adding Friend Codes – even if you never wish to battle or trade with someone else, if you and another person mutually add each other’s 3DS friend codes, then in the game, you’ll be able to visit the Friend Safari in Kiloude for each friend code thus registered. Each Friend Safari will contain two or three Pokemon, some of which are otherwise unavailable… and each one of which is guaranteed at least two perfect IVs in their six stats. In addition, Pokemon caught in the Friend Safari have a chance of possessing their Hidden Ability.

A Friend Safari will contain only two types of Pokemon until that friend has beaten the Elite Four, beaten the rival in Kiloude, tried at least one battle in the Battle Maison, and re-connected to the Internet; the third Pokemon will then become visible and catchable.

So for example, by adding my Friend Code and my adding yours, you’ll be able to catch a Technician Breloom in my Friend Safari.

PS: No Black 2 / White 2 ?

And just for the sake of the info: Candid has Steel Safari, with Ferroseed, Metang, and Klefki.

Guys…I feel slightly insulted that you don’t think I already know all about the friend safari :stuck_out_tongue: No need to explain it to me.

The only thing I was interested in from the friend safari was an Aron with it’s hidden ability Heavy Metal, but I decided it was too much trouble. The rest is really just a wash.

I stopped giving a shit about collecting them all or maxing stats several generations back. Hell, I don’t think I ever cared to begin with. I simply like picking out my favorites and giving them some decent moves. The only thing I bother to breed for is natures and egg moves now and then.

I might have played all the games but I’m not hardcore about it. Laidback gameplay is my version of fun.

And of course you can tell after the massive disappointment of Yellow, I didn’t buy the second game release for every generation afterwards (no Crystal, no Emerald…) so of course I didn’t get Black/White 2. Also, Black was my least favorite after Yellow. I wasn’t enthused about more of that.

Ooh, I get it. You probably thought I only just got the game! No, I’ve had it since launch. Feeling like playing some more combined with wandering into this section of the forums and seeing this thread combined into me posting.

It’ll be nice to have a higher chance of someone on my friends list also getting Bravely Default when it comes out. Honestly I started thinking about those benefits more than the ones for pokemon!

My bad – yeah, I thought you were new to X / Y.

Just started. ID # 40106

What we actually need is the 3ds friend code to link up with you. You can get to it by tapping on the square happy face at the top of the home screen outside of the game, and then sliding right to your own card. It lists the code in light grey under your name on the top screen. You also need to add ours in the same screen, naturally

Sorry. Definitely new at this. 4613-8121-0674

It’s cool. I don’t like to “cheat” (it’s not really cheating) by trading in specific pokemon from other people until I get to the point in the game which I’d find them anyway, but if there’s any particular pokemon you want you can just ask us. They made the global trade link so good in this game (you can even search for pokemon you’ve never seen) that having a friend with what you want becomes a bit of a moot point. Even if all the current trades on the GTS aee for legendaries, someone will always eventually trade you what you want on the GTS if you deposit something decent. But we could be a bit faster, and it’s especially good if you want your own steelix back for instance.

And if you want to feel like you got the 3ds for a good reason, we can always recommend more 3ds games. I only feel like I would get my “money’s worth” out of a console if it has at least 8 games worth playing on it, but that could just be me.

Don’t forget to add our own friend codes on that friend screen, the addition has to be mutual for it to work. I always liked that, because I feel fine leaving my code on the internet. People can’t do anything with it unless I enter theirs too, so random strangers are stuck.

I added you. I’m 2191-8930-6967, and just to emphasize Macca’s words, you need to add me as well in order to see mutual Friend Safaris, etc.

Adding you now, pancakes3. I am mostly done with both games for now, and have been focusing on Zelda lately…

Everyone, feel free to add me too. Just let me know so I can add you back.

3DS Friend Code: 1977-0455-3679
Friend Safari: Electric Type (Electabuzz and Emolga so far)

Since I’ve got just 5 badges, I anticipate I will be playing for awhile longer.

I just hatched a shiny Mawile!

I used the Masuda method: two parents of different national origins increase the chance of a shiny. I now have a 4IV shiny Mawile. Woo hoo me!

Congrats, Bricker!

BUMP:

Pokemon Bank (and its companion, Pokemon Transfer) is released on the e-Shop. You can now move your Gen V beasties into Gen VI.

I have the Pokebank and will move things… once I finish the Gen 4 and 5 games completely. I am a little worried about some of the legendaries I got from secondhand games, though - there’s a Ho-Oh that I suspect was hacked, and I don’t want Nintendo to ban me from the bank, so I won’t move it, but any of the others could be…
