Pokemon X and Y

I now have all eight trainer badges in Y. I just left Snowbelle City and I guess I’m on my way to Victory Road?!

Haven’t gotten very far, and it’s currently more aggravating than fun. But I’ll keep at it.

Did I tell you guys someone Wonder Traded me a Shiny Ditto? Never expected to get something like that out of a blind trade.

One of my friends got Pokemon X for Christmas, and I have been collecting Pokemon for her as well. She is having a hard time getting enough money to buy Pokeballs to catch loser Pokemon to trade me in return. Really wish I could just give the dang things to her.

Done playing for tonight, I think.

Once your friend reaches the Battle … Maison? The one near the Day Care… she can get regular repeated trainer battles that pay decently. That money can be boosted with the Amulet Coin, O-Powers, certain Pokemon abilities… it’s a good source of cash.

Or you can let the next Pokemon you trade her be holding a nugget.,

Oh, and tell her to always have a Pokemon in her party with Pickup. They find tons of things that you then do not have to buy. ZigZagoon / Linoone can have it, and makes a great HM Slave for Cut, Rock Smash, Surf, and Strength.

Make sure she’s found the Amulet Coin (second floor of Parfum Palace, in the fireplace inside the first room on the left from the western staircase). That item, held by her lead Pokemon, doubles the money she gets from every trainer battle. And as CandidGamera suggests, the Battle Chateau on Route 7, just west of the Day Care, offers a never-ending daily dose of trainers to be battled for money. Use the Prize Money O-Power before every battle – the effect lasts for three minutes, and repeated use of the O-Power will eventually get you a Level 2 and finally a Level 3 O-Power. That, combined with the Amulet Coin, means that Scarlett O’Hara was right: she’ll never be hungry again.

By the way, if you want to help her, do the same thing: the trainers in the Battle Chateau will often gift you with an item like a Nugget, a Stardust, a Big Nugget, or other items that can be sold for cash. Trade Pokemon to her holding those items and she can sell them.

In addition, of course, repeated battle at the Chateau levels up your own party, which is useful if you are planning your first assault on the Elite Four.

Thank you all for the tips!

Some of these I knew, but some of them I didn’t remember. I’ve spent 200 hours on this game, and sometimes my recollections are a little fuzzy.

Going to try and print these off for my friend (or copy them to text).

Thanks again! So much.

Speaking of O-Powers – get the Bargaining O-Power and use it frequently; buying items costs much less with that power activated.

Thanks Bricker!

Good news, everyone - I completed the main game in Pokemon Y!

I beat the game with the following team: Skarmory, Meowstic, Pikachu, Delphox, Yveltal, and Hariyama. Pikachu may have been the least useful, but I wanted him there for the sake of nostalgia.

I think I’m in Kiloude City now. Got my ridiculous Cupcake Dress even. Yes, I’m wearing it.

Everyone who has my friend code may want to check out my Safari and see what my third Pokemon is (hopefully something good!).

I haven’t checked yet, but it won’t show up until you’ve battled your rival while in Kiloude City, and gone to at least one Friend Safari yourself, and connected to the Internet while (or after) doing so.

Good to know, Bricker. I plan to get in some play time before Hannibal tonight.

Thanks!

I added everyone in this thread. My FC is 0173-1397-2821

Thank you, Jragon. I will go grab my 3DS and add you right away.

I’ve been off of Pokemon for a while - probably burned through my free trial period of the Pokebank without using it, come to think of it - but I’ll try to check back in on it soon and add you, Jragon, if I don’t have you there already.

Guys, I finally got my Hatching O-Power!

Despite doing all the stuff in Lumiose City, it appears I’d missed a Mr. Bonding somewhere.

Well, found him (while revisiting cities and buying TMs I’d missed), went back to Cafe Introversion in Lumiose, and taa-daa!

This evening I’ve been hatching some of the eggs I had laying around. Haven’t leveled Hatching up yet however. But I’m happy you can level it up! It’s going to be so helpful.

Should be trading some Pokemon with a RL friend Saturday evening. Need to call her and find out if she still needs Great Balls or if Ultra Balls might be better to send along. Also, some Nuggets or other things she can sell for Pokebucks.

That’s great news! I assume you know that you should have a Pokemon in your party with Flame Body or Magma Armor when hatching eggs. Add that boost to the boost given by Hatching O-Power 3, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly the eggs hatch.

Hi Bricker!

Thanks for that tip about Flame Body and Magma Armor. I just found out about that like yesterday, actually. Haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.

And, dur, I haven’t fought my rival in Kiloude City yet. I didn’t know where he was, until I looked at the guide! If I want to take him on I’ll have to switch my team out. Currently leveling up some Pokemon, including a new flyer. I keep nearly maxing-out my flying types.

Battle Maison sucks. But I’m new to it. So hopefully I’ll get the hang of it with practice.

OK, time to pick up some friend codes. I’ve added all the ones in this thread so far.

I’m 1977-1283-2693. I have a Grass type safari with Sunkern, Ivysaur and I-don’t-know. High Plains Vivillon.

I’ve been playing since Diamond/Pearl, when my then 5 and 7 year old kids got into it, but the younger one couldn’t read yet, so I had to read the text boxes while he sat on my lap. I also had to grind for them, as the huge jump in leveling needed to beat the Elite 4 frustrated them to the point of quitting.

I finally got my own DS about a month before Black and White came out, and spent the time waiting going most of the way through Soul Silver. Sunk over 300 hours into Black. Enjoyed the new parts of Black 2, but got bored once I got to the same-old-stuff in Driftveil City and went back to finish Soul Silver. Bought Y on launch day, but didn’t get to play until a stint on jury duty.

I have to say X&Y has been the most fun one I’ve played. The revised Exp. Share mechanic made it a little too easy - this is the first game where I’ve beat every gym leader, Elite 4 member, and Champion on the first try. Which is preferable to the ridiculous amount of grinding on Victory Road needed in the Sinnoh games. Or maybe I just didn’t know what I was doing then.
The main thing I love about this one is how much other stuff there was to do. When I got my second gym badge, I saved and saw I’d already been playing for 18 hours. Just walking around, going into every shop, talking to every NPC, catching every wild Pokemon available. After lifting the blackout, I spent a good 15 hours wandering around Luminose City before moving on to the next gym. My 11 year-old was frustrated because he blew through the game within a week and wanted to battle me, and I was no challenge because my team was too low level.

Finished the story and post-story in December and took a Zelda break. Now I came back to get the Celebi from Pokebank and try to fill up my Pokedex. Right now I’m loading up my party with basic types and one ringer (level 100 talonflame), going to the Battle Chateau, turning on the Level 3 Exp O-Power and Exp. Share and leveling up the rest of the party until they evolve. Repeat as necessary until I run out of Pokemon that evolve by leveling up. I brought over all the non-legendary “unobtainables” from Black and will do the same with them.

Sweet. I’ll add you later on - I should really get back to the game and get my Celebi…

Anyone tried out the new Trozei game in the eShop?

It’s quite challenging.

Fiddling around in the post-game of Pokemon Y, I finally investigated the Super Training option for your Pokemon. It’s oddly satisfying!

So far I’ve boosted the base stats of three of my Pokemon. I plan to boost all of my favorites.

I’m also working on filling out my Pokedex. I think I’m at about 560/718 right now. Having a lot of luck sending out Misdreavus on the GTS.

Berry-wise, I’ve discovered Rich Mulch is best if you don’t want to have to check your berry bushes multiple times a day. With Rich Mulch, I can check once a day and still get a good harvest.

Still don’t quite have the hang of Inverse Battling. He keeps giving me berries I already have. I must not be doing well enough…

402 hours invested in Pokemon Y so far, and I’m still not ready to put it down yet! :stuck_out_tongue:

Work on growing berries. Plant an Aguav Berry next to a Figy Berry – on the resulting bushes, you might well get a Grepa Berry as a mutation. Better chance of that if you use Surprise Mulch.
