Police Academy weird voice guy, where is he?

I have been reading about Jay Johnson, the puppet master on the old TV show Soap and i wonder about another blast from the past…

What happened to that black dude who did all those amazing silly voices in those insipid Police Academy movies? What’s his name and what is he doing now?

His name was Michael Winslow. You can read a little about him at the IMDB.

Sure he isnt referring to Bob (Bobcat) Goldthwait?

Thats the guy with the weird “screetcy” voice, the other guy is the black guy who is like a “human beatbox”, does all the sound effects etc.

Well, Bobcat isn’t black, so I don’t think it’s him.

Sorry, should have been clearer. Michael Winslow, referenced in the post above mine, is the “beatbox” guy.

I posted a link to “screechy weirdo guy” (Zed) that turns up in the second movie as a gangleader and ends up joining the force (Bobcat), since I thought that might be who the OP meant.

Living the high life in a dumpster in the back of a combination Taco Bell/KFC.

Unless you have proof that Michael Wislow indeed lives in a dumpster, you should probably keep it to yourself.

Aw, c’mon man! It’s a joke? I get jokes. Don’t you get jokes?

No

I actually just saw Michael Winslow in a club about 2 or 3 months ago.

There was another thread like this and someone posted “If you’re anywhere near High Point, NC you can see him on X day here: [link]”

I thought “Well, I’m not too far from High Point, why don’t I go?!”

He was pretty funny. It was almost (I shudder to use the word) “cute” because he kept telling stories of making sound effects in his childhood and it was clear that he has had a passion for that stuff since day one.

I felt kind of bad for him because it was a medium sized club (probably 150-200 people on a packed night), but there were only about 10 or 12 of us there. I could tell his show is normally very crowd dependant and he obviously wanted to interact with us but there just weren’t enough of us there.

It wasn’t the funniest show I’ve ever been to but I’d see him again if he came around. His Jimi Hendrix bit (which is what got him discovered originally) was great.
