Police incorrectly inform woman of her husband's "death"

A story with a twist…of the throttle!

I suppose that whether or not this story has a happy ending depends on your perspective.

I realize this makes me an epic douchebag, but when I got to the part where they said it was the thief who died, my first thought was, “Good.”

Glad the hubby is ok

I thought the fact that it was apparently a neighbor made it kind of interesting. I wonder if the neighbor had gone joyriding on the bike before. I certainly wouldn’t have wished death on the guy, but c’mon, now!

I’m glad she at least had enough details to realize something wasn’t right. It was probably still a nightmare though.

I didn’t wish him dead, I just wasn’t so sorry to see him go, its a motorcycle thing and a small part of me thinks that is poetic justice. Yep I am a douchebag for thinking that way but I still do

Slight hijack: My sister’s husband was a fighter pilot in the Korean conflict and was in fact shot down. The newspaper story made it clear that he had bailed out and was not injured and had been rescued by some Canadian soldiers. My sister received numerous calls expressing grief for her husbands death. we didn’t receive the newspaper until later in the day; you might imagine her grief until we did. (We lived in a small town; everyone knew our name and knew she had married a pilot.)

I try really hard not to wish harm/death on people because I think it makes me less of a person but, I must confess that your reaction to what happened to the thief is pretty much my reaction.

Me, too.

Luckily she found out the truth before she started dating.
