Police news: operator of the "CleanFlix" service is a kiddly diddler and porn addict

Offered without comment. Well, not much. The news pretty much speaks for itself.

Relevant commentary:

Can we make this an official rule now? “Family values agitator” = “closet freak”?

Sure. After all, nothing could be stronger proof of 100% accuracy of the claim than what has been presented here.

Especially when the originating cite is www.youaredumb.net

From the quoted article:

Great! I’ll have it entered in the book.

CBS is reporting this story: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/01/25/national/main3753682.shtml

lovely. So because one man who supposedly supported family values was a freak, that means everyone with that viewpoint also is a freak?

I hope your arm is strong enough to hold that broad brush you’re waving around.

No, the point is that a shit-ton of people who advocate “family values” as an excuse for hatred turn out to privately practice exactly what they rail against; people who believe in what the previous group was preaching but don’t get in other people’s faces about it are exempt from this new rule Cervaise has distilled from the many data points we’ve seen over the past few years and months.

Not just one. This is merely the latest in a long string of supporters of ‘family values’ personal lives strongly conflicting with the supposed values they publicly espouse and advocate.

Still, it’s a very broad brush. I know that the “family values” contingent is very much hated on this board, but you’re still grasping at straws. It’s like saying the more homophobic someone is, the more likely they are to be homosexual. I understand how someone might like the arguement, but I still don’t buy it. Yeah, there are freaks out there and people who want to be associated with groups who’s lifestyles they don’t actually live, however, they are still so much the minority that when one is found it makes national news.

Call that man a hypocrite and a pervert all you like. I’ll stand by you on that. Please do not start calling everyone who wanted to use his Clean Flicks service the same kind of sex pervert. (Which was very much implied by the article quoted in the OP.)

FWIW: I was never a clean flicks customer.

Well, here’s hoping this revelation drives a stake through the miserable abortion of a business he was running.

Whenever I see that word, I see it capitalized: CLEAN FLICKS.

Then I laugh.

And oh yeah, this is becoming scarily less like a joke and more like a prime indicator. Policemen, take note.

Works for me.

Now, granted, I am not very familiar with Cervaise’s viewpoints, but I’m pretty sure (>99%) the last line of the OP was sarcasm. I could be wrong…oh, hell, no I couldn’t be. I already made my mistake for January. C’mon people, blatant sarcasm is not that hard to spot.

In a weird sort of way, it makes sense. I mean, I see people freaking the fuck out about a nipple on television, and I don’t get it. I see a nipple. I see a baby food delivery device, a foreplay tool and a t-shirt menace. I guess some people see nipple clamps and electrodes and peanut butter and goats. And y’know, if that’s what I associated nipples with, I might want to shield my kids from them, too.

Well… I have observed this, both in person and in public figures. While I think the OP’s cite is at least partly facetious, there is something to be said for people who go to one extreme to cover up another.

I doubt that anyone hates those who appreciate family values; it’s those who can’t STFU about it that we all hate. We also hate PETA members. It’s the self-appointed saviors of us all who create such feelings of animosity, and when they do turn out to be pervs, there’s a certain amount of schadenfreude involved.

Which part of the article implied this? The article is about the proprietor, not the customers.

Well, my mama used to say that any time you point a finger, three more point right back at yourself. I definitely notice a correlation between people who really frantically flip out over stuff “they” are doing getting busted for doing that exact thing. It’s no mystery–we all judge others against ourselves and as long as we’re cool with ourselves we’re cool with others being that way. If, on the other hand, we find ourselves, against our consciences, wanting desperately to have sex with fourteen year olds, we’re likely to assume that EVERYBODY wants to have sex with fourteen year olds and some of us are likely to go on a crusade against having sex with fourteen year olds as A) a method of stopping ourselves from wanting to or doing it and B) as preemptive expiation for the inevitable day when we finally do break down and have sex with a fourteen year old. This isn’t exactly the psychological equivalent of rocket science here…

What’s the big deal, he lives in Utah- isn’t their state motto “old enough to read, old enough to breed”?

Well, Steve Huff wrote about this on the 25th, and he researches diligently. Does that lend more credibility? It isn’t until the 29th that he put up another news article giving the same info he had reported, this being the first article he linked to. He would have sources though, being a reporter, and occaisonal guest at CourtTV.

For starters, ever heard of Ted Haggard or Larry Craig?

(Personally, I’m waiting for ol’ Fred Phelps to come out of the closet.)
