Police Procedural in Hawaii, but not Hawaii Five-0

I just found out today there’s a remake of Hawaii Five-0 that’s been broadcasting since 2010. Okay but I was sure there was a remake that aired sometime between 2004 and 2008. I am completely certain* that there was a police procedural set in Hawaii that aired sometime in that time period, and I am almost certain it was a remake of some other series. But I can’t think of any old such series other than Hawaii Five-0. Any idea what show I’m thinking of?

*This doesn’t mean I’m right of course.

Hawaii, maybe? It was very short lived (it was up against the inaugural season of Lost, for one), and it’s not a remake, but it’s from '04.

I’m 99% certain that there hasn’t been a remake series set in Hawaii in the past 10 years other than 5-0.

Ah that was it I think!

I remember it being not bad, but then I also remember watching Lost instead after having seen just one or two episodes of Hawaii.)

Or this, perhaps?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_Five-O_(1997_TV_pilot)

Yeah, I think that was a no-lose for the Hawaii film industry there. I’m sure they’d have rather have kept both, but hell, Lost is a lot better than a lot of other non-usual filming states get.

ETA: I found the Chin Ho continuity error above funny. I find it hard to believe that Fong wouldn’t have remembered, but if it was a job, why not? (I doubt that the OP would’ve been that off-track in terms of time, though, especially since it didn’t air, so the opportunities for him to have seen it would be limited.)

Another possibility is One West Waikiki:

There’s also a Get Smart episode set in Hawaii where Smart and 99 team up with a Charlie Chan imitator for a case.

Pardon me for asking, but what do a 1995 series and a book series have to do with a TV series from 2004-8?
