Police response during mass shooting event {Not Gun Control, 2nd Amendment or Politics}

Interesting, thanks for that. I had wondered why the shooter didn’t close the door after he was inside so the police couldn’t follow.

I am a bit surprised that outside security doors even have the option to be unlocked. In my experience, outside doors always lock and need a key or keypad to open from the outside but just the crash bar from the inside. If this story is true, apparently the teacher assumed they would automatically lock or she wouldn’t have propped it open in the first place.

It also says another door was open at the school, maybe that’s how the mother mentioned upthread got her daughters out. Makes you wonder if police even bothered checking other doors rather than evacuating kids from windows.

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the cops held the door open for the shooter and helped him load his gun. :worried: I don’t know if it’s been mentioned in this thread, but I heard that they are not cooperating with the investigation.

Oof. That’s not a good look. Thanks for pointing that out:

All you need to know…

The Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde Independent School District police force are no longer cooperating with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s investigation into the massacre at Robb Elementary School and the state’s review of the law enforcement response, multiple law enforcement sources tell ABC News.

I just read that too. Both the Uvalde Police and the Uvalde Independent School District police force have stopped talking to investigators. I expected Chief Pete Arredondo to lawyer up, but two entire departments is over the top. Good news is, Chief Pete had some extra time on his hands, since he’s not helping the investigation so he was able to be sworn in as a member of the city commission. I wonder how recall votes work in Texas?

Heh, see, when the police ask questions, keep quiet except to request a lawyer. Even the cops know it!

And outside his office minutes later, he told CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz that he’s not going to release any further information while funerals are ongoing.

“We’re going to be respectful to the family,” he said. “We’re going to do that eventually. Whenever this is done and the families quit grieving, then we’ll do that obviously.”

Bold mine.

The funerals will eventually all be had, but they’ll be grieving the rest of their lives, you wanker.

The good people of Uvalde anticipated that something might happen some day.

  • Article VI - RECALL OF OFFICERS

  • Sec. 1 - Officers subject to recall; petition and objections thereto.
    (a) The mayor and other members of the city council may be removed from office by recall. If more than one member of the city council is sought to be recalled at the same time, a separate petition shall be required for each member sought to be recalled.

He said to CNN, “I am in contact with DPS everyday” which says he is cooperating with the investigation.

No it doesn’t. He could be answering a call from DPS every morning with “Bugger off!” That counts as “contact.”

…Does he realize what he’s saying, there? They’re going to be respectful to the family, eventually. Not now, of course, but eventually.

He’s going to release further information eventually; “do that” was the subject of the previous paragraph.

It’s truly mindboggling that he didn’t think through how insensitive that comes across.

What is active wanker protocol?

You don’t wait.

You shoot your mouth out without giving it a moment’s thought.

He finally got one right.

At today’s mass shooting, in Tulsa, the Mayor went out of his way to comment on the Tulsa PD’s response.

“This campus is sacred ground for our community,” said Mayor G.T. Bynum, who praised the response of law enforcement. “Men and women of the Tulsa Police Department did not hesitate."

It’s fortunate that these things happen every few days so that we can fine tune the response.

We lead the world in thoughts and prayers.

So just to clarify, not hesitating made no difference, right?

Maybe yes, maybe no. Maybe the police kicking in the door caused the shooter to kill himself. Maybe he would have kept shooting if the police hadn’t shown up when they did. Maybe he shot everyone he wanted to shoot and would have shot himself whether or not the police had gotten there when they did. Maybe the story/timeline will change in the next few days.

The gunman, described as 35 to 40 years old and armed with a rifle and handgun, appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Tulsa Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish told reporters.

Tulsa police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said the gunman fired that shot as officers were kicking in a stairwell door to gain access to the Tulsa medical building where the gunfire erupted.

What’s your point in saying this?

Three dead vs 21. Take your pick, I know the result I like better.
