How far in advance are the National Convention host cities awarded?
About a year and a half. Denver was announced on January 11, 2007, and Charlotte was announced on February 1, 2011.
Cool! I know it’s small scale, and they only need a b-ball arena and several 1000s of hotel rooms. Unlike the Olympics, which needs so much more infrastructure.
Yep. Any convention town will have the facilities for one.
The Republican National Convention will be in August in downtown Tampa at the Times Forum (formerly the Ice Palace – where the Tampa Bay Lightning plays ice hockey) – just a few blocks from my office. I fear the traffic and look forward to the entertainment.
