Political joke of the day

I’ve been away for while. Am I to take this thread to mean that jokes (even lame ones) are acceptable in the Pit now?

Anyway, as with most analogies, the ones being made in that broadside fall apart on too close an inspection. Jesus wasn’t really addressing governmental ideologies when he spoke those phrases (if he indeed did speak them). He was addressing proper voluntary and personal actions, not advocating any government programs.

I saw this thread on the first page of the pit, and I read it as “Political joke of the day: rjung”. I thought it was a great idea! Tomorrow the political joke of the day could be 'luce, then Brutus, then Reeder, then miljoy, then RTFirefly, saving election day for the king of them all, DtC. Fantastic!

Instead I find a lame joke from somebody’s blog. Ooooh! Never seen one of those before! There should be a thread for all of the gazillions of gigabites of lame, partisan, stupid shit like this floating around on the web. Whoever posts the most lame stuff about the other candidate wins! Yay!

Heh. Now there’s something that’s actually funny. Good one, Dave.

Since this is the latest Bush-bashing thread that I can find, I’m reeling with the irony of Bush’s attack on Kerry in relation to the missing 380 tons of explosives: "“A political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander in chief.”

Iraq WMD, anyone?

Well, if I’m next, I guess I’d fall back on a golden oldie, the one that ends with the country boy yelling “Stop the car and let me out! I been a Republican for thirty seconds and already I want to screw somebody!”

Why is it lame?

A small percentage of partisan jokes (from both sides) are indeed funny. (They may not seem like that to the opposing side, but they are.)

So, if someone can provide links to the small percentage of partisan jokes that are funny, it helps us not have to go through the “gazillions of gigabites of lame” partisan jokes out there.

In any case, whether a joke is lame or funny is very subjective (unless you are the ultimate arbiter of what is funny), so if you don’t find a joke funny, no one is forcing you to post “That’s not funny!”.

That’s their new response? You gotta be kidding me. Bush supporters truly are fucking stupid.

No, you found a lame joke from Mad Magazine. And a funny one, at that.

I didn’t know those guys were still around . . .

What I wanna know is…

Where on Earth did they find an Anime Jesus??

No, they’re not.
