Does anyone know where I can get a map or article about different states political tendencies? I hear people say things like 'oh I would have voted for Gore in the last election, but living in Indiana what is the point?" but I have had a very hard time finding any sort of factual data on this.

The Atlast of US Elections has tons of great data going all the way back to George Washington. For the recent presidential elections, it even has vote totals broken down by congressional district (on a map.)
