Would it be possible/desirable to create a Politics subforum for non-US Dopers. IMO alot of the info they share is irrelevant to the US political system.

I’m always interested in an international view of American politics. I’d hate for anyone to believe you had to live in the US to post a political comment about US politics. They should just use the Elections forum for all their political comments.
I think the Elections and GD forum should be merged. So that’s 2 votes against the OP.

First they get their own countries and now they want their own forum? After we saved their bacon/invaded and conquered them/pretended we liked them only for expediency/nuked their sorry asses in Dubya-Dubya-Two I woulda thought they’d be more grateful.
On the infrequent occasions when the Powers that Be have created a new forum, it’s been because there’s some topic that’s getting a lot of discussion. What would be the point of creating a forum just for a topic that doesn’t get a lot of discussion? It’d be a total ghost town. At least now, when someone creates an international politics thread, the usual denizens of Elections or GD will see it on the list-- Who would ever even bother opening a dedicated international forum?

Not that I support the OP, but I read it as suggesting that the forums be segregated by topic, not poster. One forum for US political topics in which anyone is welcome to post and one forum for non-US political topics where anyone is welcome to post. I assume the idea is to not swamp every forum we have here with US-centric topics.
I agree with this. I wasn’t a fan of the idea of an ‘Elections’ forum in the first place as I thought it was too specific and cyclical.
But altering it to make it a general ‘Politics’ forum makes sense to me. And it can work across borders. I like hearing from non-US folks who basically go, “You all are nuts…here’s how we do it here.”
Where we import our fur from, of course.
Whereas I, on the other hand, am deeply grateful that Elections or Politics or whatever is now its own forum, so that I can happily avoid any and all threads on that topic, and would therefore be vehemently opposed to sticking it back into GD again.
