Poll: Guns and Abortion

There’s an interesting juxtaposition between these two hottest-button issues, so I’d like to see how people respond when they’re placed side-by-side.

On the subject of GUNS, do you support:

A - A total or near-total ban on guns including conifiscation.

B - New regulations which are significant but which fall well short of a ban, such as universal regisration or ballistic fingerprinting.

C - No further regulations.
On the subject of ABORTION, do you support:

A - A ban on abortion with or without exeptions such as for rape, etc.

B - Further restrictions such as those currently being debated, i.e. on ‘partial birth’ abortion etc., but no ban.

C - No further restrictions.
I’ll reveal my own positions in a little bit.

I’ll bite…B for both.

We need to arm as many fetuses as possible, so that these young Americans may enjoy the Constitutuonally mandated right that is gun ownership.
Or arm bears, or something.

Seriously, though–C on both.

C and C.

Good thing you didn’t offer a D and C option, it would be a bit ironic.

A and C.
What would be ironic about a D and C option?

Respect my right to bear arms and I respect your right to an abortion.

I fail to see how the two issues are related, or what putting them side by side is going to demonstrate.

Oh, and C, C for me.

Really, you ought to have options D and E, as well

D: Fewer restrictions than there currently are, but still some govermental control.

E: No restrictions whatsoever.

In which case my answers both change to D.

“D&C” is an abbreviation for the abortion procedure “dilation and cutelage”.

B and A for me, the exceptions being to protect the life of the mother or in the case of rape.

I’m guessing you’re fishing for some irony. Others like to juxtapose opinions on the death penalty with opinions on abortion, hoping for hypocrisy. But actually, those who are against abortion are also more likely to oppose capital punishment too.

Abortion is every woman’s choice.

And while I’m not an NRA member or something like that, I do think our existing gun laws are pretty good. We just need to enforce them better. If you want a gun, fine. Let’s just be reasonably sure you aren’t a felon or nuts.

D&D.

Fewer restrictions on both.

I am the pro-choice, anti-drugwar, anti-gun control Republican.

I agree with Eleusis, in my home state of Maryland we just elected a Republican governor for the first time in 40 years. He is a pro choice, pro gun rights moderate. Maryland has some of the toughest gun laws in the country and Baltimore has one of the highest rates of violent crime so I hope that with a reduction in the gun laws (as he has promised to do) the level of violent crime will also go down. This has happened elsewhere in the country, linke Florida, PA and OK.
So my choice is D&D
