OP here again: 2.5 weeks later after Moderna shot 1 I still feel wiped out. I just saw my doctor and she’s ordering some tests, but let me know that she had one other patient who had a reaction like mine: severe fatigue and chills. It lasted about four weeks then cleared up. Apparently I’m not the only one at this end of the vaccine bell curve.
Same. But mine was weird last time and the time before and the time before, etc. It was weird in a different way since my shot but was it the vax or was it age and my iud? I’m guessing the latter two.
I had some weirdness with my cycle right after my second shot. But I just started some new meds to help with the peri-menopause symptoms a few weeks ago so it may not have been related to the shot. I was spotting and I’ve never done that before.
Second one was a wee bit more painful, bu up I had had a deep tissue massage the day before.
Pfizer. First shot, just a sore arm and some fatigue. Second shot(yesterday), sore arm and headache. Today, very sore arm, fatigue(more than the first) and body aches. Felt more like bruising rather than over-exertion.
I’m 51 and have been in perimenopause for 4 years. The cycle before came 2 weeks late. I had my fingers crossed for a no show but The Ides of March did me in
And that was the weird thing for me: never spotted before and this period has lasted 2 weeks (done now, thankfully) with a week of spotting, the usual 3-4 days but lighter than since almost 2 decades ago when I had an IUD, and then more just spotting. No cramping, at least… yay?
Sore enough the morning after #1 (Pfizer) that I took some ibuprofen.
After #2, barely sore at all.
No other symptoms either time. I’m 61, so perhaps mounted a less robust immune reaction.
My sister and niece got the J&J and both reported the “sunburn” sensation a few hours later.
First (Pfizer), not much of anything at all. Faint headache, arm soreness, and fatigue, but I probably wouldn’t have noticed anything out of the ordinary if I hadn’t had a vaccine. Second, same headache, arm soreness, and fatigue, and my muscles - not joints - ached - like I’d been doing yard work the day before. Slight nausea. I described it to friends as “feeling 85%”, and I was back to 100% the following day. I feel super lucky.
I hope everyone posting here is also posting to vsafe. I’m still doing (now weekly) check-ins with the CDC.
Thanks for the link. I was not given that info when I got vaccinated. I haven’t had side effects interesting enough to feel like I had to report them to anyone. (sore arm, a day of achiness, tired, all of which resolved) Are they looking for everything, or only for serious things?
They are tracking everything. Initially I got a text daily, now weekly.
Got my second shot yesterday afternoon. Soreness seems to be dissipating quicker than the first but I needed a nap, dunno if that had to do with the shot or the fact that I got up four hours earlier than usual.
I posted earlier about having no effects. But this Thursday and Friday (8 and 9 days after) I was tired as fuck. I also got my period a week early (4 days after) and had more back pain than usual and bled for longer.
I read some articles about how this is not entirely unheard of.
Since the 40-ish group are the ones getting their second shots now I guess we’ll hear more about the effects of the vaccine on periods. My period is often weird and unpredictable (like many of us) so I didn’t think much of it. I was actually going to participate in a data collection survey about the vaccine and periods once I read about it but due to circumstances I don’t have good data about my last few cycles.
Anyone else feeling symptoms a week later? Not symptoms lasting a whole week.
Fwiw I am feeling much more awake today.
I think it helps to have as many people as possible participate. Also, it asks about what you are experiencing, not about what you attribute to the vaccine. In other words, anyone participating should list any symptom they are having. It’s up to the study to figure out if it’s linked to the vaccine.
Yes. See my posts above. I’m just now starting to feel normalish after nearly three weeks…
I just signed up for it. I wouldn’t have even known about it without y’all mentioning it here.
Glad to hear you are finally starting to feel better!
Thank you!
First Pfizer, no problem other than a sore arm, and like I told my wife and son, it wasn’t nearly as bad as a tetanus shot.
Second Pfizer kicked my ass!!! Got it Thursday evening. Friday morning, just sore at the injection spot, but otherwise I felt fine and went to work.
About 10:45 am I went up one flight of stairs and got winded. By the time I was done peeing I had a headache. Went back to my office and took my temperature - 99.1. Decided to apply for the California COVID pay and go home. By the time I filled out the form, I was up to 99.5. By the time I left I was 99.7. By the time I got home and went to bed 101.1. Around 4 pm woke up and was 102.2. That was the peak. Had no appetite except for one bowl of soup. Slept all day and night.
48 hours after the shot I’ve come down to 99.9 and have my appetite back.
