Got second stab of Moderna at USC today on 4/20. Think of the irony. I’m at one of the nation’s most famous universities with no students present and no semi-legal pot holiday socialization happening. We’re all getting stabbed and stuck in traffic.
On the bright side, there were over 150 there getting vaccinated. A steady stream of customers.
I have NO side effects at this point and it’s been twelve hours. If there are side effects, I hope I grow a third arm and a third penis.
Pfizer, first shot only. Marked “no reaction”, but there is just the tiniest hint of soreness. Not something I’d even notice unless I’m paying attention to it (not impossible that it’s a nocebo effect, too).
First shot last month, pretty much nothing. Just a bit of tenderness at the injection site.
Second shot this past Monday is a different story. Got it in the morning, and went about my day, did some errands, a bit of cleaning, nothing too strenous. Towards bedtime, started feeling a bit of a fever coming on.
Went to bed with chills, curled up in double blankets, running a pretty high fever. Woke up completely wiped out. High fever, total body ache in my muscles and joints, extreme fatigue, no real respiratory issues though. Managed to get in to work, but was dragging all day, actually left early. Went home and went right to bed for another 5 hours, and got up just long enough to eat a bit, watch a bit of TV, then right back to bed.
My fever seemed to have subsided by this morning, definitely doing much better. Still easily fatigued, bit of a body ache left over, but much more tolerable.
I went to an orthopedist at the beginning of this week, and his expert opinion is tenosynivitis. And the root cause of tenosynivitis is poorly understood, so .
AstraZeneca. Arm feels bruised at the injection site. Nothing visible. Not a big issue for me. It doesn’t prevent me from doing anything.
Based on this poll the second shot will be worse, so now I wish I’d never seen it
If I hadn’t had reason to expect it, then I don’t know what I would have thought. If it just came out of the blue, I’d probably have thought that I had COVID. Definitely coming down with something.
I would suggest, if it all possible, getting the next day off work.
And it’s a crapshoot anyway. My friend and I got them together, and he didn’t have a reaction at all.
Three days out from my second vaccine and I’m back to feeling normal. Oh well, at least I got to answer something other than “none of the above” on v-safe for one day.
Second shot, shit my pants. No joke. Came home feeling nauseated and extremely tired. Went to bed, fell asleep, woke up an hour later when I felt my pants fill up to the point of overflowing with hot diarrhea. Do I win the thread?
Are you still feeling sick? Coincidences happen, and you might have some unrelated medical issue that first manifested that day. It’s probably time to chat with your PCP, if you haven’t, yet
I am, but I had the shot only 10 hours ago. I felt 100% fine until about three hours after my shot, when the extreme nausea set in. Then the extreme fatigue. Then hit the perfect storm of an early-evening nap and explosive diarrhea.
Tonight I’m sleeping on the fold-out sofa in the sun room with my kids’ old potty-training sheets. I’ll admit it: I’m a little nervous to go to sleep. It was…quite the scene earlier.
But I did notice that i had a lot of gas the day after my second jab, and i wondered if it might be related. I couldn’t think of anything gassy I’d eaten. Your post makes me think it probably was related.
Got my first shot, Pfizer, yesterday at noon. After a couple of hours started to feel funky, just a little off and tired. By bedtime my arm was sore and I had terrible dry mouth. Like I could not get enough liquids. Remarkably and unusually, I hardly got up to pee. And I slept unusually late.
But arm still sore, still feeling weary and very thirsty. All in all, nothing too terrible. I expect by tomorrow I’ll be right again!
I got my 2nd Moderna shot at the beginning of this week. I woke up at 3am the night after the shot (about 12 hours later) and felt absolutely terrible. Fever, chills, nausea, and muscle soreness from my feet to my neck. I had 101-102 fever that came and went in waves, chills, and muscle soreness the following day.
I tested positive for COVID-19 a few days after my first shot and was symptomatic (lost smell for a few days, general fatigue, low fever). The way I felt after the 2nd vaccine shot was 10x worse than actual COVID-19 felt. Maybe my immune system was super pumped up from having fought the actual infection? Who knows…
