Poll/Pool: When will Trump get out of the race?

The OP took January 1st, which makes a lot of sense to me. Quitting by Christmas sounds about right. I took November 1st to be different. I’m sort of hoping Trump will see something shinier to do over Halloween and resign.

Trump’s “firing” (You can’t resign because …you’re fired) of political adviser Roger Stone says a lot about his campaign. He’s not listening to the professionals and distancing himself from them. He won’t realize even when he starts to lose because they seem to only be tracking nationwide polls. He probably doesn’t even realize at this point that he’s tending to do better with those that don’t tend to vote in primaries. He’ll stagger through Feb and early March even if it would be clear to professionals that the jaws are closing. He simply won’t know, admit, or react to it. With half of all delegates awarded by the end of March 8th I’m guessing he’ll be realistically done on the 1st or 8th. He won’t admit it yet.

I said 15th of March. Once he hits states that are winner take most (with potentially Bush and Kasich still in the race and taking big delegate chunks that day) reality should start to be clear even with that thick skull.

Oops. I didn’t realize you had to click on one of the vote tallies to see the respondents for that option. [Emily Litella]Never mind.[/EL]

November 15, 2015.

The guy is a walking joke who can’t even defend his own uneducated and bigoted statements, he’s not worth all he says, his lawyers do all his work, etc.

I voted lose at the end. Although I think there is only about a 1/3 chance that Trump will make good on his threats to run as an independent, I figure that those odds are better than picking out any of the dozens of alternative dates that he could bow out in.

Also bowing out doesn’t seem in his character. It doesn’t cost him anything to just say he’s running, and let the media publicize every dumb thing he says until election day. Running for president is hard and expensive only if you actually want to win.

Yeah, but how much is he willing to spend on a losing race? If Trump runs as an independent but puts no effort into it, not only will he have little effect, he might not even get on very many state ballots. Running as an independent is a lot of work and a lot of expense and I’ve seen no indication that Trump is going to the trouble of building a movement the way Perot did. Nor do I think he’s interested in spending $100 million to make a viable run of it.

Plus he’s thinking now that he has a chance to win the nomination, so he’s mulling a pledge to not run third party. Let him think he has a chance to win for some time longer before the rug gets pulled out.

Super Tuesday. By that time Bush will have it in the bag and T-Rump won’t be the belle of the ball anymore. You guys who said Trump wins- are you serious? Really?

It could happen. If it was Trump vs. Clinton, why would you vote for the person who serves Trump? Just vote for the head guy.

How does Hillary serve Trump? Roasted on a spit with red wine?

He gave her money, she does what he says. You think that will change once she’s President?

At least that’s what he’s going to talk about during the campaign, and who can blame him? He can’t lose if the public perceives that Trump is in charge whether he wins or loses.

Has she done his bidding before? Why would she start now?

He told her to be at his wedding, so she came. As he said, “She had no choice.”

Here’s the deal. If Trump comes up to you soaking wet and says it’s raining, look outside before getting your umbrella. Here’s what SHE said:

It was Trump who said:

I think if I was invited, I’d go. I’m sure the food was good.

If you think Hillary is not as much (and I think way more) of a liar as Trump is, your naivete is refreshing.

Fox vs. Trump: Who serves whom?

Trump may just be a Fox marionette (or increasingly becoming one), played up or down by Fox for optimal viewership ratings. That op-ed by Ezra Klein, already cited in several Trump threads here, seems to make the point that Fox boosted Trump so far and drummed up lots of outrage in his favor because it was a coup for their ratings to do so. Now that he’s a top [del]dog[/del] weasel in the GOP polls, it makes for good ratings for Fox to start beating on him. Nothing like the drama of seeing the top [del]dog[/del] weasel under attack for entertainment and ratings.

The notion seems to be that Fox is playing Trump like a violin, for as long as he’s useful to them.

ISTM I’ve been seeing other op-eds along similar lines too (possibly all by Ezra Klein), lately, but they’re all getting blurred together in my mind by now.

I trust her 1000x more than him. Fact checkers have much more job security going over Trump statements than hers.

Fact checking isn’t generally about personal ethics. Sure, Clinton’s more likely to correctly state the capital of Algeria, but a lot less likely to tell us the truth about what favors she did for Algeria in exchange for Clinton foundation donations.

Throws the challenge flag That implies he actually talks about substantive things that can actually be checked.

Trump will leave when he’s gotten enough publicity for free. I’m not sure when that is, and I suspect he doesn’t either.

What I am sure about is that Trump will not spend real money on the campaign, and he will not proceed far enough to make any serious disclosures about his assets and income.

Can you clarify what other disclosures about his assets and income are expected of him if he proceeds “far enough”?
