To what extent is Eugene an invention?

100% - standing up straight, different outfit, hair change, his voice is different, he’s a completely different human being that bears ZERO resemblence to Eugene on any level. (He’s even kinda cute, sorta.) LIke… Billy Bob in Sling Blade.

50% - Elements of Eugene are real…maybe he really sounds like that. Maybe he needs and wears those glasses. Maybe that’s how he really stands. In which case, some of how he presents himself as a person is likely to be true, too, in terms of tons of rejection in his life and that sort of thing.

0% - That’s how he genuinely looks, walks, speaks all the time in every aspect of his life, and he’s entirely sincere in every respect, he just happens to be self-aware enough to mock himself effectively.
I do think he’s kinda cute under there. I love tall skinny big-lipped guys, (I have the hots for Howard Stern based entirely on his appearance) but the posture and the voice are attraction-killers.
