Diet soda or a mixture of orange & cranberry juice.
Diet coke or seltzer with lemon
Lemon, Lime & Bitters for me as well.
I’ve noticed that the only people mentioning LLB are from Australia.
On my honeymoon to Hawaii last year I tried to get a bartender to make me one. :dubious: I overheard the bartender saying to another customer that he had some bitters. Having found from a previous trip to the States that it didn’t seem to exist over there I thought lets give this a go and I chatted to the bartender about how to make a LL&B and he gave it a go for me.
First hurdle encountered - there is no real equivalent to the Lemon Squash softdrink that normally goes into it. :smack:
The final result was not bad, it wasn’t really a LL&B but it was alright. Because he was experimenting the bartender didn’t even charge me for it either. But he did get a big tip from me for having a go.
Are you talking about Angostura bitters? The funny little bottle with the old-fashioned label, made of dark brown glass?
If so, any proper bar in the US should have it…I have it myself, both at my home bar and where I work, and a bitters and soda with lime has saved me and copious others from hangovers and upset stomachs. I swear by it. I’ve also grown fond enough of the taste to drink it just for fun, on occasion. This is half the reason I keep club soda at home.
Technically bars carry it to make Manhattans and a couple of other old-school drinks, but really it’s for medicinal purposes. slurrrrp
Yep that’s the stuff. I guess from a couple of enquiries about Lemon, Lime & Bitters, and getting blank stares, I must have just assumed no Bitters. Oh well. I know for next time. Still have to work on how to put a LLB together using ingredients available in the States.
Anyone know of a softdrink (soda) available in the States that is similiar to Lemon Squash/Solo ?
Lemon Squash is similiar to ‘Lemonade’ in the States, but significantly less tart.
Some sort of stimulant, coke probably and a few Red Bulls as it gets later.
Vodka and orange juice, rum and coke, or one of the ‘girly’ drinks (without alcohol if possible). There’s also the option of coolers–Mike’s Hard Lemonade is pretty good. I think there might be more alcohol in them though, compared to other drinks.
