Poll: Who cuts their own hair?

I don’t now but I did when I was in school. To cut the back I used to take a long strip of masking tape behind my head, wrapped both ends around to my chin (to make sure it was even,) mush the tape into the hair, cut across the tape, throw tape away with hair attached. Clean up back of neck furries with disposable razor. I also color my own hair and have been known to perm it on occasion.

I trim my beard. Nobody cuts my hair.

I do. I bought some clippers and use the 7/8" setting all over my head, a little shorter on the sides, and my girlfriend trims/shaves the back of my neck.

I give myself a buzz cut. No guard. I also trim my own beard and ummmm “nether regions”.
I shave and brush my own teeth to.

After my barber raised the price of a haircut to £8 GBP, I decided to call it a day and buy some clippers. Three haircuts later, the clippers had paid for themselves, and I was starting to come out ahead (if you excuse the pun).

I always use the clippers without a guard, to take my hair down to a very short stubble. Often I’ll go one step further and use a razor to shave my head completely - you can’t beat that smooth, shiny look!

It would be nice if I could work out how to give myself a flat-top “box cut”, as that style really suits the shape of my face. Every time I’ve tried that, I’ve hashed it up and had to shave the whole lot off again.

I haven’t gotten my hair cut at all in almost two years, but I have really thick curly hair and I thin it myself every few months. I just picked up a thinning shears at a local beauty supply store and that takes care of that. When I actually need a cut or when it was really short I do pay for a haircut, but whereever is cheapest.

Not only do I cut my own but also all my kids, the Mr. and a few friends too. I started out years ago, just trimming my friends children’s hair when they were somewhat poverty stricken and went on from there. I’ve taken my girls in for perms and one style that I felt was beyond me but for the most part I’m pretty handy with the scissors and clippers. I kind of wished I wasn’t when my son wanted a mohawk, but I did it anyway, the cheapskate in me couldn’t justify paying someone to make him look goofy.

I bought a Phillips clipper with the guards going to 4cm a few months ago…wish I had done it sooner! I cut my hair with #14 on top (4cm), #8 on the upper sides and #5 on the lower sides and nape, then go back and use a #7 to knock the line out between the #8 & #5. Wifecat cleans up the back when I’m done. Looks just as good as when I went to the barber, but now I don’t have to mess with appt’s, hassle, etc.

I cut my own hair. It’s just above shoulder length with some light layers all the way around.

I cut my own bangs when they annoy me because they’re in my face and I’ve forgotten to make a haircut appointment or am too poor to justify getting a good haircut. However, I have long, straight, fine hair, so any mistakes really show up. I’m really annoyed right now because I got a trim at a real haircutting place a while ago, and it’s pretty obvious that the cut is bad. And my hair grows really slow, so it won’t grow out anytime soon. Aaargh.

Yep. Buzz cut with clippers and the 3/8" guard every month or so. Not only does it save a ton of money, but I think it’s fun!

I’m cheap, so I cut it myself. Rather, I have someone trim the back for me, then I do the shorter bits on the sides myself. Though I’m sorely tempted to try doing the whole thing myself now.

Once.
Too poor to go to my regular stylist Denise. Feeling down. Cut off about four inches on the sides and partway in the back, except where I couldn’t see.

ChiaHead, meet Mullet.

Denise said later that if I were ever in those kind of financial straits again, she could work something out…I think she may have invoked Jesus’ name about nine times that afternoon, months later.

I have natural blonde ringlets which I used to blow-dry straight until about 3 years ago. Since I stopped fighting my hair, I’m a lot happier. Wash, tossle and let it go.

I have been cutting my own hair for about 10 years now. I also don’t worry about shampoo. If I have a bar of soap, dish liquid or laundry detergent handy, that’s good enough.

Never in a million years. Not that it’s exceptionally stunning, I’m just rather fickle with my hair and enjoy the pampering at the salon… because I’m worth it damnit!

I have never cut my own hair. I’d make a mess of it.

buzz clippers set on 3 mm. Not that there is much to buzz off. 5 minutes every two weeks and been doing that for years

I decided to cut my bangs a little while ago. I have long thick wavy hair and would not trust myself to cut the back.
