I don’t know the right answer and I do believe that play by play polling numbers are relevant to the run up to the election and how can Trump win threads … but we get the same polls as new news in each of them …
The three threads seem to mostly be us all saying the same things three times. Beetlejuice is sure to appear!
Maybe merge with one thread to rule them all?
Maybe one ongoing polls news only? (Rejected in past.)
The one thing would be to combine the pair of campaign threads. I would be open to that. But messy at this point. I would hate a dedicate polls thread.
Third option: make a thread specifically for polling results. That way they’re all in one place, but each thread can still discuss them in a unique way.
Not remotely sure if this is a good idea, but just putting it out there.
I’m actually interested in the updates on the newest significant polls and occasional meaningful comments about them. I think I am a bit on the far end of that obsessive spectrum. And even I tire reading the same newest poll announcement repeated in three threads and three sets of similar discussions.
I’ve been tempted to completely evict Nate Silver talk from the 2 campaign threads, but as long as it is just reporting his results and not on Silver himself, we’re allowing those posts. But I agree, it gets tiring.
Personally, I’d prefer all the polling, including discussion about polling, in the same place. And I’d be happy if that were a different place than the general discussion if the election. I just feel it’s awkward to talk about poll results and not be able to discuss their validity.
Maybe it’s also awkward to talk about the campaigns without discussion polls. So maybe my preference would have been one thread. Dunno. But I’d prefer to pull out all the poll talk.
That’s partly because i, personally, don’t trust polling these days, and feel it clutters up the other discussion.
(And I’d love to ban the sidetrack of whether Nate Silver has sold out to Republicans. Surely that’s been fully covered.)
