Polling results spread out in election threads

I don’t know the right answer and I do believe that play by play polling numbers are relevant to the run up to the election and how can Trump win threads … but we get the same polls as new news in each of them …

The three threads seem to mostly be us all saying the same things three times. Beetlejuice is sure to appear!

Maybe merge with one thread to rule them all?

Maybe one ongoing polls news only? (Rejected in past.)

Or just continue the mess?

Maybe one

Still rejected.

Meta on Polls has a thread and the 2 campaign threads are places to talk about latest polls. I’m not sure what the third is.

The zen diagram on the 3 threads is not a complete overlap, so it is fine how it is.

Pretty damn close.

I love me my play by play by the minute poll and 538 updates but three threads of the near same is excessive.

Your ring rules them all though. But maybe at least hear some discussion about it?

The one thing would be to combine the pair of campaign threads. I would be open to that. But messy at this point. I would hate a dedicate polls thread.

Venn? otherwise I’m lost

Damn phone, yes Venn.

Third option: make a thread specifically for polling results. That way they’re all in one place, but each thread can still discuss them in a unique way.

Not remotely sure if this is a good idea, but just putting it out there.

I think we need a poll on this.

Or maybe 7.

I’ve stopped watching the two threads on Harris and Trump because I’m not interested in hourly updates on the polls.

I’m actually interested in the updates on the newest significant polls and occasional meaningful comments about them. I think I am a bit on the far end of that obsessive spectrum. And even I tire reading the same newest poll announcement repeated in three threads and three sets of similar discussions.

What is the sound of one circle overlapping?

Same for me.

ETA: LHOD-- :clap:t3:

Or maybe close all three with a new “final stretch run up to the election” thread linked to each in their place?

What is the third thread in this case?

We have Kamala Harris and the runup to the 2024 Presidential Election & Donald Trump and the runup to the 2024 election threads.

There are two VP threads, which should remain separate or their content will be lost.

Finally the meta thread on polling: Polling: Unskewed Polls and comments on polling (moved from Harris Thread) .
This was removed on purpose as it was a sidebar to the campaign threads and not really about the campaigns. It is a place to talk about polling present and past, and etc.

You also wind up with three threads with the same people not understanding statistics and kvetching about Nate Silver over and over

I’ve been tempted to completely evict Nate Silver talk from the 2 campaign threads, but as long as it is just reporting his results and not on Silver himself, we’re allowing those posts. But I agree, it gets tiring.

How can Trump win?

Which mostly includes the same polling updates and the same claims regarding what they mean or don’t mean and behaviors of potential voters.

Personally, I’d prefer all the polling, including discussion about polling, in the same place. And I’d be happy if that were a different place than the general discussion if the election. I just feel it’s awkward to talk about poll results and not be able to discuss their validity.

Maybe it’s also awkward to talk about the campaigns without discussion polls. So maybe my preference would have been one thread. Dunno. But I’d prefer to pull out all the poll talk.

That’s partly because i, personally, don’t trust polling these days, and feel it clutters up the other discussion.

(And I’d love to ban the sidetrack of whether Nate Silver has sold out to Republicans. Surely that’s been fully covered.)

Minimally keep it in the 538/Silver take your pick suck thread. (Not its name.)
