I would like to test the number-averaging type of poll (because Discourse doesn’t give the option to give REGULAR HISTOGRAM RESULTS LIKE NORMAL SCIENTISTS CAN READ AND … um sorry, got a little ranty there…)

In this poll, you will select the number closest to the weight you think Donald Trump actually is. Should be interesting. I hope. Just humor me, ok?

Where do you usually keep your dish towel / kitchen towel when not in use? This is the sort of towel you use to dry recently washed dishes, wipe the countertop, etc.

  • hanging on the refrigerator or freezer door handle
  • hanging on its own dedicated towel rack, peg, or similar
  • sitting on (not hanging from) the counter, a shelf, etc.
  • somewhere else
  • nowhere because I don’t have a dish towel

Cultured chicken (meat grown from tissue without any actual live animal involved) has mad its way out of the lab and into a few select restaurants. It supposedly really does taste just like chicken although much more uniform in texture, and should be significantly more environmental friendly as well as less cruel to animals.

I eat meat and I would…

  • Buy this instead of chicken even if it costed substantially (> 2 times) than regular chicken
  • Buy this instead of chicken even if it costed somwhat (10-20%) more than regular chicken.
  • Buy this instead of regular chicken if everything else was equal
  • Only buy this if it was at least somewhat (10-20%) cheaper than regular chicken
  • Only buy this if it was substantially cheaper (> 2 times) cheaper than chicken
  • Would not buy it under any circumstances

Hollywood and the music industry are using CGI, VR, and AI to bring dead celebrities “back to life.” There’s even talk of a “new” AI Tupac and Biggie album. Is this a good thing?
  • As long as they have permission from the family and/or estate I don’t care.
  • I’m against this in all forms. The dead should stay that way.
  • Depends on the application. Bringing back John Wayne for a dignified movie role is one thing; bringing him back to hawk impotence pills is entirely another.
  • I don’t really care that much one way or another.
  • Something else.

Do you like it when a video game lets you keep playing after you reach “the end”?
  • Yes. There’s often a lot of optional content that I want to go back and finish.
  • No. I like “the end” to mean the end.
  • Sometimes. Depends on the game.
  • I don’t usually play games that have this option.
  • I don’t play video games.

What accent do you speak with, as far as you know?

I got the list of American Accents from here. I never really thought of the Pacific Northwest, Florida, California, and Philadelphia as having their own accents, but they’re listed on that site so I included them in the poll. The site also included videos with examples of the accents. And I threw in African-American Vernacular because it was listed on another site I looked at.

I’m not all that familiar with most of the British regional accents, so I just went with the list from this site. And I just lumped Irish under British Isles.

I know, some of these could be further broken down into even more specific accents, eg. a Kentucky accent sounds different from a South Carolina accent, but for purposes of this poll just pick the one that comes closest. Please only use the “other” options if you really don’t think you have an accent that even comes close to any of these.

  • American, Boston
  • American, Maine
  • American, New England general/other
