Smarter people remember that it has its basis in fact. Remember Dan Rather and that memo?
Even smarter people recognise that everyone has their own biases and that extends to the media too. CNN has its biases, Fox has its biases, as does MSNBC, as does The Washington Post, as does the Wall Street Journal, as does everybody.
Here’s the problem - it isn’t false. See the Halperin memo and the National Guard forgeries in 2004, and even that didn’t work.
No, what they hate is the loss of their power to be gate-keepers and those who determine what the debate is about.
Used to be, if if you didn’t like your news slanted to the left, you still went to the MSM because there was nowhere else to go. Now there is AM radio, Fox News, and the Internet, and we don’t have to take the East Coast elitist view of things as the default.
A few days before the election, CBS released the forged documents in coordination with the Democratic party’s “Fortunate Son” campaign, hoping that nobody would spot the fakes in time to stop them from throwing the election to Kerry. Unfortunately, conservative bloggers had the word out that they were forged within a few hours, and Dan Rather wound up looking like the whiny left-wing loser he was for the last twenty years.
They are already doing exactly what you say they will be doing, and they have been for thirty years. They’re just getting caught more now.
From the heart of Ohio, my bumper sticker survey continues. Went to the home store and sandwich shop today. Saw three Obama stickers and ZERO McCain material. This was in a district that consistently votes Republican.
Again, stop looking at polls. Yesterday, in Ohio Obama had gained 5 points from male voters alone. A poll released today shows McCain had gained 5 points from … wait for it … male voters. Either (1) male voters in Ohio had a change of heart in 24 hours, a 10 point change of heart, or (2) polling at this point is completely useless.
