Okay, they are(I don’t have pictures though, ask Vanilla). Pay up. You don’t have to convert to a religion, since I don’t have one handy or that I endorse anymore, except for my own(thanks SDMB). Just one small thing would please me. STOP BLAMING EVERY FUCKING THING ON GOD!!! Hey, I’ve never actually typed that word before. I gotta stop coming here. I hope I’m still in the pit.
Uh…uh…uh…
Let me guess(I’m psychic you know). You’re a guy. It’s Friday night. You have beer. Okay, I will have to respectfully refuse to be your stewardess on this particular “flight of fancy.”
Hey, we agree on something else.
I like that better than the current title.
I do photograph well, don’t I? My blonde hair with his dark coloring. I don’t think it’s a tough crowd and now that I typed my first really dirty word, hopefully I won’t get pitted for being too “nice” someday. “Thank you. And I actually do like baboons”, should be my new sig line.
Whatever you say, andros. Nothing here has changed, I see. There’s reason for me to post in this thread if I choose to since I do still have an active account here and was made aware of the thread on another board. I’m not the only one who is totally astonished and saddened at the things Polycarp is putting forth. As to your other comments, truth is truth and falsehood is falsehood. The Bible says what it says and Polycarp, in my opinion, has departed from that. The Bible warns about deception and people departing from the true faith and giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. I’m sorry, but in my opinion that’s what’s happening to Poly. He claims to be a Christian and the Bible says for Christians to exhort one another and that the word of God is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and instruction in righteousness. So, according to the Bible, I’m supposed to say something to a fellow Christian if I recognize falsehood being propogated. Am I not entitled to share my opinion even though it’s unpopular? Are only opinions allowed here that happen to agree with the majority? Why not just put some announcement on the board for newcomers so they’ll know that not all opinions are welcomed here and any disagreement with the clique will bring instant pitting? There’s no “self-righteousness” or animosity here in spite of popular Dope opinion. Just a great sadness, that’s all, at the things I see happening.
While I’m far from perfect and have much to learn from the Lord, you don’t know my heart or where I’m coming from. I’m not self righteous. I’m not good. The only righteousness and goodness in me is the righeousness and goodness of Christ given when I accepted Him as Savior. And, whether any of you believe it or not, I’m deeply concerned about what I see happening with Polycarp and others. I doubt that you’re going to understand that, though.
P.S. I am not s–tting on Polcarp, either. I’m just giving an opinion on what I see and I’m concerned about him. So I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t accuse me of hating him or anything like that because it isn’t true.
Bullshit, H4E / L73… you’ve said quite enough on those other boards to show that taking a good, healthy dump on Poly is about the only thing you excel at.
The self-proclaimed True Believers are still gossiping about me? Somehow I’m not surprised. Is this the same board that decided I must be a transvestite because I care about how gay people feel?
Fair enough. Whether you believe it or not, the last thing I want to do, ever, is to proclaim a false Gospel. That we disagree on the nature of the Good News is no surprise to you, I’m sure.
Your accusations that I’m teaching falsehood date well before this thread. So how about identifying specific errors that I’ve made, quoting them, and setting the record straight on what I’m saying that’s false. Never mind the kid discussed above; enough people have shot that down already. What else am I saying that’s “a false Gospel”?
I’d like to believe that; truly I would. What I’ve seen, mostly, is accusations of heresy, instead of any expressions of caring about me or Siege. (I think this is the fist time you’ve ever set in “print” that you care about me as an individual. And how you feel about her, my sister in spirit, is evident from the e-mail exchanges.)
There’s your challenge – this is the Pit. Let’s hear where I’m wrong.
Poly, any thoughts on Unitarian Christians? Just curious, as your spritual journey and those things you hold dear seem to mirror those of a few UU Xtians I have known.
I know you don’t know me, Polycarp, but I would like to express – as a non-Christian who was raised in a Lutheran household – your views are actually making Christianity a little more approachable. Thank you for your candor.
Ditto to what Mr. B has said, from a raised-Congregationalist atheist/agnostic (depends which side of the bed I get up on ;)). I appreciate your willingness to share your spiritual journey without trying to impose it on anyone else. Would that the more doctrinaire were as blessed with humility.
I’ll take back the word only in my original response to you. Yes, you did mention the other candidates in one line of the forty-one lines of your post that dealt with religion or very religious people. I did see that one line, however, it was lost upon the content of all the other lines in your post.
You walked a thin tightrope. I’ll grant you that. Ever thought of running for a political office?
Now I have to decide whether I want to spend the rest of my evening catching up with this thread or not.
Oddly, enough, at the time I posted it, I though it was germane to the point of the theological correctness of Poly’s perception of a gay boy becoming Christ returned. As it turned out, it was just another butterfly. But, what the heck, Poly is doing fine without my meandering mysticism.
I thought it was germane, too. As someone who holds you in the highest of esteem, Tris, I keep getting bothered by the self-deprecation in your posts. But I figure that it’s your business how you maintain humility, so I tend to keep my mouth shut.
I dunno about others, but we’re taught regularly to seek and serve Christ as He is found in others. I have a feeling that’s too mystical for Lynn’s taste.
And Edlyn, it’s wonderful to see you and Lib posting. I’ve missed you two!
Qadgop, I hae quite literally never met a Unitarian Christian that I didn’t like. A former member here whom I cound a good friend would be a prime example.
JFTR, I figure that doctrine matters – but people matter more. There’s a Bujold quote that says this perfectly which I cannot remember – perhaps somebody fond of her writings recognizes it?
The Jackson family is being discussed in a different thread. I’ll thank you not to hijack this one.
Poly, I still love you, man. You, too, H4E. In the big finale, whenever it comes, we’ll all be depending on God’s mercy. But this whole debate (if it truly is one) is kind of wierding me out. That’s why I haven’t posted an opinion in it. Is it possible that emotions are getting the best of us here? Any of us? Just a thought.
Nope. What you’ve proved is that the author of Numbers had a case of the ass against the Midianites, and attributed it to God’s commands.
Hell – was I dreaming in my memory that a political leader called for a Crusade to rid the world of an admittedly cruel and hateful Arab dictator, less than a year ago? Wanna look up the definition of “Crusade”?
