pop ups from Google Chrome - way to disable?

My dad is running Google Chrome as his browser. It has this annoying feature that causes pop up ads/news alerts at the bottom of the screen. This happens periodically whether viewing Chrome or not. Happens to me when I’m using Microsoft Edge. I’m looking for a way to disable this feature.

I’ve gone through the settings and extensions folders in Chrome. Pop-ups and redirects are blocked with no exceptions. Notifications are ask before sending. There’s no obvious extension in the extension folder. What else am I missing?

I think it’s Chrome because the pop up has Google Chrome mentioned in the window as well as the article/ad link site.

It’s very tedious having to close each one manually, and then get another one, and maybe another one, and so on.

“Block before sending” is useless for blocking notifications if when it asks, you tell the site “Yes.”

Go into Advanced Settings and see what sites, if any, have been allowed and block them.

If you are having the issue I think, this should clear it up. In a nutshell you have to turn off notifications from Chrome for all or specific sources:

I’ll give that a try. Can’t hurt.

I just started getting little pop-ups on the right-bottom of my Firefox browser window. The pop up has a “settings” on the bottom right of the pop-up. I clicked on it and one option was to disable it, which I did. Seems to have worked.

So it looks like the pop ups in question are system notifications. I turned off allowing notifications from Chrome, which has helped greatly in reducing the barrage of nonsense pop ups.
