Does anyone know anything about the Population Media Center or its president William Ryerson?

While they seem interesting, they use soap operas to educate about reproductive issues, things like AIDS prevention among other things.

There’s an obvious squickiness to the idea of global population control, but I’m having trouble figuring out if there’s anything weirder than "they think the global population should be reduced in order to reduce the number of people on earth all together.

I have no idea how effective the group is. I will say that advocacy of family planning isn’t exactly controversial in certain circles. There are a number of NGOs involved in this work.
