I recently discovered one sub-sub-genre of porn that I absolutely don’t like. It’s compilation videos of some specific sex act or whatever, but it’s a series of clips where each clip is no more than a second or two long. Half of the clips are messed with in some way, such as being a negative, black and magenta, or stretched and distorted. A company logo pops up every few seconds obscuring the image. And all of this is backed up by a house techno beat. It’s not porn, it’s an assault on my senses.
What I also don’t like is fetish specific porn where the fetish is all but existent. Let’s say it’s M/F/F threesomes, for instance. It might end up being 20 minutes of two girls getting each other off. Then a guy walks in the room, and… the movie ends. Arrggh!
My problem with porn is that not much of it is made for women. If I have a fetish at all, it’s bondage and submission, but every time I watch video porn of that nature it’s obviously geared toward men. Not only that, but the appeal of sex to me is pretty dependent on the psychological implications of it; I am just as turned on by the philosophy of power dynamics as by the physical acts themselves. Even the written stuff by other females fails to hit the spot for me, because it’s not nuanced or character-driven enough, so I often just write my own.
Like Olivesmarch4th, I write a lot of my own. Occasionally, I find something that I like in erotica, but usually I write my own stuff.
With porn, there’s not much geared for women, I’ll admit. It’s a growing market, though. As a bisexual, though, I find some of the male-slanted porn very enjoyable, though. I have a wider scope of porn that I enjoy (gay porn, some fetish stuff, etc.) than my husband, but I enjoy the stuff he enjoys (girl-on-girl, straight one-on-one porn, small groups, etc.).
