Various pornography websites in the weeks following 9/11 found it necessary to ask its visitors to pray for the recent conflicts. I found this incredibly interesting. I mean, its not as though porn surfers were not already been informed of the events of the outside world, but now they can’t even get off in peace without ignorant lowlife porn distributors plastering “God Bless America” across the boobs of some teenie bopper along with American flags and “heartfelt prayers of condolence.” It certainly isn’t like that in most places, and they have probably gone back to normal now, but still, just the thought of that is weird.
On their knees?
People who are comfortable with “porn” don’t automatically have to be atheists. There are likely millions of people who believe in some type of supreme being and/or afterlife, yet aren’t uptight about things that “you” would label as “porn”. To many folks, visiting adult oriented websites doesn’t mean they are doing anything wrong. %Repeat the previous line and you figure it out.
I guess all the Catholics who sleep around before marriage and/or use birth control should abstain from praying because the church doesn’t condone this behavior???
Crazy Boob, maybe you could elaborate on your point.
If one does naughty things (in your point of view),like looking at adult oriented material, they shouldn’t pray, event thought those things are perfectly acceptable to them?
Help me out here.
I think Mr. Boob was just commenting on the odd juxtaposition of porn, prayer and patriotism. Not so much a Great Debate, more of a MPSIMS.
Link?
Would this have been more accurate?
Is your real point that you find the flag distracting while you are trying to find some good money shots?

Heck, for a time, Larry Flynt was a born-again Christian – while he was still publishing Hustler magazine!
Or at least, that’s what the movie The People vs. Larry Flynt said.

Moving to MPSIMS.

Heh heh heh heh heh.
Yeah, I think its odd too, but I got a snicker out of
misreading your thread title. Thought it said
“Porn sites asking patrons to PAY-what was that about?”
Hee hee.
Wondered where had YOU been all this time?
As far as I’m concerned, porn is the perfect example of American freedom - freedom of speech, freedom from religious laws, freedom of expression. Some polls have shown that well over 90% of Americans believe in a supreme being, so I think it’s reasonable to assume many people who operate adult web sites also believe in God. So, it all makes sense to me.
I think it’s fantastic. We live in a country that protects the rights of pornographers because we believe in Freedom. It makes perfect sense why pornsite operators would feel patriotic.
What is it, precisely, about distributing porn that makes a person ignorant and a lowlife?
And what is it, precisely, about distributing, participating in, or enjoying porn that is incompatible with theism?
Now there’s a political platform we can rally around!
I’m guessing that praying for sex is a pretty popular passtime.
I’d say that paying for sex is a pretty popular passtime too.
I can see the point he’s making. The union of masturbation and prayer would strike me as funny, too. What’s with all the dinkish responses?
feiedo-
Haven’t you ever read the stupid shit people write on those sites or at least the retarded one-liners that get spammed everywhere trying to get people to come to their site. The fact that they are morons is self-evident.
And yes, the idea of people jerking off and praying at the same time is the weird image I was posting about…
Yes, we have all seen stupid porn-spam. However, many porn sites are quite reputable and provide high quality entertainment created by intelligent, literate individuals. Yours was a blanket statement accusing all porn producers of idiocy and/or mental retardation.
Sexual acts have been associated with religious ritual for a long long time. Sex magic is fun stuff.
Personally, I find the idea of patriotism juxtaposed with the purchasing of newpapers to be weird, yet my local newsie has a “God Bless America” sign on his stand.
How ridiculous.
Crazy Boob…
If that’s your opinion of porn…wht the hell are you visiting the sites?
Moderator’s Notes: No. Not a good idea at all. I’d be forced to delete it and write someone a nasty letter. And you guys don’t wanna make me dig up Roger’s Profanisaurus again, do ya?
Yes, true. I have a book, God’s Hustler, a quickie bio of Flynt brought out by a Christian publishing house during the brief time when Mr. Flynt was a professing Christian.
The cover art is the top of a Hustler magazine, with a woman peering at the camera, sticking out of a plain paper bag.
One of those things that make you go “Whaaaaa???” when you see it. Like my mid-60s book that claims the Beatles are a communist plot.
