We had a 2.9 quake here at 6:01 PM. I was reading the Dope when it shook my house, only last a couple seconds. I actually went outside to see if anything had happened, I suspected a quake, but just to be sure.
The TV heads say it was about 9 mi. down, directly under Portland.
Did it shake up the Shangai Tunnels?
We did? How embarrassing that I did not notice anything. I was sitting on my couch watching tv then. Hmmmmm, I gotta start paying more attention.
You know, of the 3 or 4 we’ve had in the last 5 years I’ve lived here; I only felt one - the big one that was up near Olympia. I was leaving for work when it happened, and figured out what it was about 10 minutes later as I was walking in. Nobody believed me when I got there and claimed we just had one.
The one last year (August?) was epicentered almost exactly under my house. I felt nothing. My mother emailed me from Florida; that’s how I found out.
I ought to pay more attention, eh?
I was hanging out with a friend in the Hollywood District and didn’t hear or feel a thing either.
When I was watching the news this morning, there was a phone interview with a specialist that repeatedly stressed it was an incredibly small quake so it’s not surprising most of us were unaware though.
