He’s not going to play in the U.S., at least not in the near future. He’s probably going to a Spanish side–Barcelona have first dibs, but Real Madrid probably have the best chance of signing him. The rumor for a while has been that Posh wants to live in Spain or Italy, and Beckham apparently won’t have any trouble finding work in either country (Milan is also interested in him).
Those European sides will pay him far more than he’d ever make in the U.S.
But you’ve got to be kidding that none of the MLS teams would like to have Beckham playing for them. For one thing, they can use whatever publicity they can get (professional soccer being such a low-profile sport in the U.S.). Secondly, he’s still a damn good player, despite being such a media whore. Sure, he’s got his head up his ass, but he’s deadly accurate with free-kicks and crosses into the box.
That’s why so many of the top sides are falling over themselves trying to sign him up. It’s also why, as an Arsenal fan, I’m glad that he won’t be playing for Man U anymore.
I don’t know if this is the right place to mention that since the World Cup, most larger Japanese bookstores have a “David Beckham” section.
Could you fine Brits be so good as to take him back? Seriously, I mean it. Kids point at me and say: “Bekkamu! Bekkamu!” with alarming regularity.

Have to agree that MLS would love to have him. Never going to happen, though. They don’t pay nearly enough.
The Washington Post had an article on the bidding for him, and I think Barcelona said they weren’t interested in paying the kind of money he wants for him and said he doesn’t fit their style (I assume they don’t want media whores). Real Madrid was said to have interest, as well as the two Milans, but those two were not major players yet.
The only way those two could get the kind of media attention in the US that they get back home would be if one of them murdered the other one. Then we’d pay nonstop attention to every aspect of their lives. Well, the remaining one anyway.
We Yanks do have our standards.

I gotta add that calling soccer players “sissies” ain’t exactly the height of wit. That’s like saying that disliking Dumb & Dumberer is evidence of a humorless person. I’d actually have to argue that missing what’s funny in “sissy soccer players” is evidence of a great sense of humor.
