According to this article, Victoria Beckham has recorded some new tracks to be released under an assumed name so she can avoid what she considers an unfair bias on the part of critics. Graciously, she has agreed to reveal which tracks are by her when they become hits. That is SO generous of her.
Avoiding the obvious discussion of the self-serving, oxymoronic hypocrisy of announcing in advance that she intends to release tracks under an assumed name, who wants to suggest a name for our own Posh?
I nominate:
Skinny MacNo-talent
Preening Nonwarbler
Monet Hot (in honor of her attactive-from-a-distance looks)
Yes, he did two club music records with producer Youth, under the name of The Fireman (as in “…rushes in from the pouring rain…”). He also did an instrumental version of “Ram” in 1972 under the name of “Percy Thrillington.”
McCartney did write the song “Woman” for Peter and Gordon using the alias “Bernard Webb.” And he produced the Bonzo Dog Band’s single “I’m the Urban Spaceman” under the alias of Apollo C. Vermouth.
The Wonder Who? was the Four Seasons, who recorded a few singles under the pseudonym. Their version of Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice” made the top 20.
Hotlegs released a single under the name “Doctor Father,” and then resurfaced as 10cc.
I remember Donny Osmond did something vaguely similar–He released a single, but convinced DJs to agree not to say who the performer was for the first few weeks it was playing. That way, some people could get to like the song without all the baggage attached to liking a song by Donny.
Of course, he did not announce this plan in advance, because that would be silly.
