Possible bug in forum registrations?

I’m not sure if what I’m saying here is correct, or if there is some other explanation, but I think there might be a bug in the forum registration process that forced me to try signing up again using a different e-mail address and slightly different username.

Namely, when I first tried to sign up I never received and activation email. I tried again with a different email address (though by the nature of the addresses they should have all the same filters and such that could block an email receipt), and signed up again with a slightly different name and did get an email. What did I do differently? Just one thing: the second time I did not uncheck the box for “recieve email notices from administrators”. I’m not entirely sure if that is why, but I think unchecking that box on the sign-up page may prevent the activation email from getting set (the reason should be obvious).

It’s not a bug if you do it to yourself!

Come talk to me. Send me an email at TubaDiva@aol.com and let’s discuss what you want to do here.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that a registration form wouldn’t sabotage itself by checking or unchecking an option, do you?

Since the only two people who should have a concern about this perceived problem would be Number43 and the Administration, let’s let them sort it out. Closed.

I suppose you missed this part:

The first time around he did it to himself; the default is to send email. If you uncheck the box in the settings the system won’t send you email, it’s doing what you want.

Well, not entirely what you want, as if you just registered you want to get that confirmation email to activate your account. Otherwise you’re not going to get very far, you have to activate the account to have write access to the board.

The system did what it was asked to do as it was asked to do it, it worked properly.
