We are having problems with the email confirmation system.

The new upgrade includes not only new user accounts in the confirmation procedure but also all password and email address changes; these all trigger the confirmation email.

Until you receive the email and follow the instructions inside, your registration is hung up in SDMB limbo. Can’t sign into the board, make posts, etc.
If you haven’t received the email in, say, an hour or so, write an adminstrator and ask us to look into the situation.

This also goes for any other problem with your user name; if you have any problems signing in to the board, write an email to any administrator. Or write to all of us, first one to get there will get it. We’ll retrieve your registration, assign you a new password, etc, whatever it takes.

Do NOT re-register with a new screen name. It’s one to a customer and we disapprove highly of multiple screen names.

Apparently changing password or email information kicks your registration to Straight Dope Message Board Limboland. In this place you cannot sign in to the board or make postings.

I have retrieved the ones that bounced there so far but I do not have time to play with this all day, so please hold off making password or email changes until we get this fixed, please.
