I have recently had a problem with the boards. When logged in, I was given the error message, “not authorized to view this page” on every page (forum indices, threads, etc). If I logged out, no problem (except for the inability to post, search, view user profiles, and so on). This began after I attempted to update my email address in the “user cp”, so I suspect that has something to do with it.
I have no reason to believe that I was banned. My previous name (TheFifthYear) still shows “member” under it.
I have re-registered only to post this question. I emailed TubaDiva on the 11th, but did not receive a reply, and otherwise would not have registered a second name. Without the ability to view any pages, I was unable to find another email address to send my question to.
I don’t care whether you unlock my old user name or not (I’m happy to start over with this one). I just wanted to alert you to a potential technical problem with the boards.
That indeed appears to be the case. The profile for “TheFifthYear” says “this user awating e-mail confirmation.” That means that either you didn’t get the that’s sent to confirm valid e-mail addresses (there are several reasons this might happen), or the board didn’t like how you responded. I’ll direct Tuba’s attention to this note and we’ll try to fix you up.
For the record, this happened to me a little while ago – I tried to change my SDMB e-mail address and was suddenly locked out. Meanwhile I was unable to access the new e-mail address, and the confirmation e-mail (presumably) went into the ether. TubaDiva fixed me up, though (thanks for having an easy-to-remember address!), and I reverted to the old e-mail address.
