Possible New England Mountain Climbing Dopefest

I brought up this idea a few years ago and never got the chance to follow through on it and though I might give it another chance this year.

I haven’t been mountain climbing in quite a while. I used to go to Mount Monandnock in southern New Hampshire every now and then to do that climb. It’s not a bad climb; it’s not a walk in the park, but it’s not pinions and rope climbing either. I figured this might give a lot of the New England dopers a chance to find out how out of shape I really am. So, if we can set a date, say, sometime in late June before it gets really hot is anyone else interested in getting together and taking this little trek with me?

Gotta walk off those ribs, huh?

I’d like to, but I need to consider the timing. As the date gets closer, I’ll have a better idea re: time and finances. Sounds like fun, though.

Absolutely Euty - my wife and I are avid climbers, we’re in Connecticut, right near the border. Just keep me posted as to when and where. You know there’s a place down by Foxwoods Casino that is really fun!! Not a bad climb, and the view from the top is great.

I’ve alkways wanted to hike Monadnock, but couldn’t get Pepper Mill interested. Might be a good excuse,.

We go up to CT quite a bit (and just where the hell were you, Mr.Phlosphr, when I was trying to organize a CT dopefest, hmmm?), and I agree that a climb out by Foxwoods would be fun and not too difficult. If schedules allow, I would love to be there.

I hike in NH all the time, even have a website about it for the masses. Why wait until June, though? The winter hiking season is just ending in the south but still plenty of adventure on snow up north.

Sure, you plan to hike one of my favorite mountains after I’ve moved from Keene… grr.

Go to Curtis’ Chicken and Ribs in Putney, VT, afterwards, for the best ribs on earth!

Suuuuuure, plan a fest the week after I’ll be out that way.

Gr.

It depends - how much actual climbing is involved? Any beyond scrambling over some rocky places? I’ve done Welsh, Dickey and Chocorua, if that helps for a basis of comparision. Hikes are fun, but aren’t really good for my bad knee…doesn’t stop me though
