OK, here goes:
Harry Spear was a “Gang” member in the silent days. Spear disappeared, whereabouts unknown, after his stint.
Some years ago, someone tracked down a “Harry S. Bonner” living in/near San Diego, with evidence that that was probably *Harry Spear. Bonner denied over and over that he was Harry Spear, although it was commonly believed that he was.
Well, just a few weeks ago (September 22), Bonner (SSN 557-26-4992 from SSDI) died, and I was wondering whether anyone had access to a San Diego obit that might have had some further information. Pay no attention to the 1969 death date listed on IMDB. That has never been corroborated, and is a bit dubious, likewise the several uncredited film appearances in the 1960s, four decades after his “Gang” appearances. Maybe they’re legit, maybe not.
*I don’t have citations for this, but IIRC the “S” might have even stood for “Spear,” which was his mother’s maiden name, and the birth date matched what was believed to be the birth date for Spear.
