There are 435 voting members and 6 non-voting members in the U.S. House. At least 1 Representative suggested that Obama shouldn’t be invited to speak from the House floor.
1 Representative doesn’t want Obama to visit and 1 Obama hasn’t indicated that he wants to give his SOTU from Congress.
To be fair, they may be worried about taking away time from the latest vote to repeal Obamacare. If the Republicans aren’t careful, they may fall short of reaching triple digits.
Not by the time of George III, he couldn’t. I’m pretty sure he could not even really use his veto, though he had it constitutionally (and Elizabeth II still does).
Amazing, isn’t it, how the media hasn’t reported on to your amazing discovery that the President has declared that he isn’t going to go before Congress to deliver the State Of the Union Address. This conspiracy is so broad even Fox News isn’t broadcasting this astounding news. Either that, or you’re just a partisan idiot.
I have no idea if Obama has decided to address the Congress in house.
You expect the media to report that Obama has not yet decided whether or not to request time to speak from the House floor??? Is that even news? Obama will make his decision in due time.
What decision? Whether he makes a “decision” on whether or not to give the SOTU seems about as likely as whether he makes a “decision” each day on whether or not to resign and convert to Islam.
Assuming I understand his blither-blather correctly, doorhinge is trying to make it Obama’s “fault” whether or not he makes an address to Congress by making it sound like Obama is supposed to request an invitation.
That’s not the way it happens. Congress issues the invitation.
There’s probably something in Miss Manners or Emily Post that says it’s unseemly and ill-mannered to ask for an invitation. It also would imply that the Executive branch is subordinate to the Legislative branch, something I’m pretty sure Obama wouldn’t knowingly do.
Hahahaha. One Congressman out of 435 says that Obama shouldn’t be allowed to give his SOTU address from the floor of the U.S. House. (In reality, I expect a Concurrent Resolution to schedule Obama’s SOTU address will easily be passed by both houses.)
The lame stream media then barrages leading Republicans with questions about Republicans refusing to allow Obama to give his SOTU address from the floor of the U.S. House. The LSM then tells their viewers that leading Republicans keep talking about the issue. The LSM ignores that fact that the leading Republicans only mention the issue in response to the media’s questions.
It’s the LSM and blogosphere who appear to be obsessed by this issue.
However, it takes two to tango. Obama has said that he does not need Congress. Obama has not made it clear that he wants to give his SOTU from the floor of the House but he has weeks before a decision should be made. If Obama has decided not to give his SOTU in front of Congress, there is nothing that Congress can do about that.
