Must be a nightmare to play in that suit.
Always liked this one…
Tim Minchin-- Darkside
Just found the video below of Steely Dan doing Show Biz Kids. Jeff Baxter scorches through this song! I actually bought a Steely Dan t-shirt at one of their concerts I saw at Red Rocks but it was a parking lot special that didn’t last long.
I’m Losin’ You, from back when Rod Stewart was a rock singer, and the Faces a great great rock band!
Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones and Ian McLagen.
Some entries from the amazing Playing for Change series!
When the Levee Breaks featuring John Paul Jones.
And Ove Como Va featuring the Santanas, Tito Puente, Jr., and Tal Wilkenfeld.
I love Gunhild and she’s such good fit for PMJ as well.
Speaking of PMJ, a few favorites:
Can’t go wrong with Morgan James
Morgan again, and Telly Savalas’ daughter (Arianna) on the left
I don’t think I’ve posted anything from Frog Leap Studios yet.
I’m not a metal guy, but his videos are worth watching, IMO
My absolute favorite cover of Africa
I know this has been done a million times…
Great, non-metal, cover of Fast Car
Unrelated, but I encourage anyone that hasn’t seen it, to watch the entire Stop Making Sense concert.
Here’s a highlight
Ooh, yes. I’ve been a Junior Brown fan since the 90s, seen him live a number of times and he once signed a shirt for me.
In the hands of a lesser player, the hybrid instrument he plays (the “guit-steel”) would be a gimmick. But he has the chops to make full use of it and is amazing to watch live. And he’s usually singing leads while playing leads too, which not too many people can pull off. It’s like a juggling act.
What you always hear about him: “I don’t like country music… but THIS guy is great!!!”
Or, put less politely as I once heard someone blurt out at a show, “The guy does everything but f*** that guitar!”
Here he is on Austin City Limits, where I first saw him:
I’ve posted Louis Cole music here before, I believe, but this is live. Live is where the band proves that they can bring it. They bring it here, Louis Cole and band “Freaky Things.”
That’s “Freaky Times”. I was struggling to get the link to post right, and typing faster than my brain works.
This is impressive because it’s just so darn unexpected! Courtney is now quite a bit older and, after being signed to a record deal by Simon Cowell, is becoming quite successful …
She’s also very versatile – here she is a couple of years later doing “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” in a completely different style, and danged if she doesn’t sound better (to me, anyway) than the original Stones version!
