Post CF and on-going Trump outrages

Technically since it’s called the United States Secret Service, it should be abbreviated to USSS. But that sounds like a snake talking.

Retirement… yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket.

At a nice farm upstate.

. . . loudly mooing.

I’m no rancher, but I’m sure I’ve listened to cows making more sense than Trump usually does.

Or is “boviating” the process of spewing bovine shit? He’s a whiz at that.

Like in Blade Runner?

That kinda works, too.

Both CNN and MSNBC are now reporting that the investigations into the Trump Organization are now criminal in nature, not just civil.

My, my, my. Not actually an unforeseen bit of news, but a very welcome one. Haven’t yet been able to find a link to share. I’m sure one will be along momentarily.

ETA: Yes, here we go.

Paywalled, unfortunately.

Ooooo… I like it!

The New York AG and the Manhattan DA’s Office are teaming up for this investigation. Former US Attorney Andrew Weissman, most recently of Mueller investigation fame, is on MSNBC now explaining how these criminal charges most likely arise out of violations covered by the Martin Act, having to do with criminal real estate dealings.

And since this is an investigation into the Trump Organization, if violations are found, this will involve every member of that organization. Lotta people named Trump fall into that category.

I’m sure they won’t find/haven’t found anything. /s

Here’s a non-paywalled link from Reuters.

As appealing as it sounds, it seems likely that the MAGAtry will use it to beatify him with martyrdom. See? He upset the establishment and now they are persecuting him!

(And given that he is hardly the only rich guy deserving of prosecution, the point would not be entirely without merit.)

That can never be a reason to not pursue criminal investigations. Sure, there is a segment of his base that will revere him under any and all circumstances. But this investigation – and its prosecution if merited – is not a witch hunt, no matter how much the hard core Trump toads try to create that narrative.

I think that this thread

Is all the proof you need. Cats are aliens trying to murder us all to prepare the way for the next wave.

How does that post fit in here? (What am I missing?)

Wow, it doesn’t… Got that in the wrong thread…

It means it’s too bad Trump isn’t a cat owner :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Oops.

OTOH, I think you can make a case that Republicans are aliens trying to murder outvote us all to prepare for them taking over everything.

(CNN)Former President Donald Trump has spent his first five months away from Washington surrounded by a generously paid group of staffers, at least one of whom received a $32,000 raise over their White House salary, according to Freedom of Information Act records obtained by CNN.

As of May 12, the compensation for aides kept on by Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence, who received about 20% of the $2.6 million sum available to both men in accordance with the Presidential Transaction Act, totaled $1.26 million. The lump sum for transition activities, which is managed by the General Services Administration during a former president’s first six months out of office, is typically applied toward rent for a suitable office space, staff salaries and benefits, and printing and postage expenses.

In Trump’s case, the bulk of the funds available to him have been used to pay several ex-White House staffers who remained by his side at his Mar-a-Lago estate in South Florida – where he has been building out a post-presidential political machine – before he relocated earlier this month to his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, where he and his team will spend the summer. The FOIA records, which the Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW) shared with CNN, show that everyone from Trump’s post-presidential communications director Dan Scavino and adviser Stephen Miller to an unidentified personal aide are receiving six-figure salaries.

His lips are still clamped firmly to the bosom of the American taxpayer.

Does that money go directly from the GSA to the staffers, or does the GSA give the money to Trump who then pays his staff?
