Just think-- if trumpy were still <gag> president, this could be our headline:
RIO DE JANEIRO — Brazilians are dying in record numbers from Covid-19. Intensive care units in a growing number of cities are full or near capacity as more contagious variants drive up cases. Elderly people have begun sleeping outside vaccination centers hoping to score a shot from the country’s limited stock.
But this is no time for new restrictions on businesses and transit, President Jair Bolsonaro said defiantly on Thursday. Instead, his government is placing tremendous hope in an experimental nasal spray, under development in Israel to treat severely ill Covid-19 patients, that the president has called a “miraculous product.”

I saw a report today that Trump sent a cease-and-desist letter to the RNC because they were using his name and picture for party fundraising. In other words, money he doesn’t get a piece of. If this is confirmed, it’s literally the best thing ever.
The day after the insurrection I saw a post by some activist on reddit that I just scrolled through. What I read felt like it had to be a parody account of being a trumper who was black. Later when I wanted to check up on the claims I could not recall enough details to find it.
Today huffpo has a very long piece about the activist. Detailing his connections to various republicans.
" Prior to the rally, Alexander had been in direct contact with Trump insider Caroline Wren, a top Republican fundraiser and former deputy to Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump Jr.’s girlfriend and the former national chair of Trump Victory, the joint fundraising committee for Trump’s reelection campaign" is just one of many connections (some with photo evidence).
Ali Alexander, a summit attendee who has more than 100,000 Twitter followers, has continued to question Democratic candidate Kamala D. Harris’s racial background, sparking charges that he is waging a “birther”-like campaign against the California senator. Alexander, who described himself in a recent Facebook post as “a GOP communications operative,” first tweeted in late June that Harris was not an “American black” because she is of Jamaican and Indian heritage. The comment was retweeted and then deleted by the president’s son Donald Trump Jr. (“Is this true? Wow,” he wrote), helping it to go viral. Harris has said that the attacks on her background are “challenging” and “hurtful” but that she’s focusing her energies elsewhere.
Also allegedly involved in planning the rally were three hard-line Trump supporters in Congress. Ali Alexander, a far-right organizer of the #StopTheSteal rally, said Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Paul A. Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) each coordinated with him. “We four schemed up of putting maximum pressure on Congress while they were voting,” Alexander said in a later-deleted video. Spokespeople for Biggs and Brooks denied their involvement.
EXCLUSIVE: Trump’s Twitter ban and losing his golf tournament hurt him more than losing the election.
…
“I think that being banned from Twitter and having the PGA take their tournament away from his golf courses are probably the worst things that have happened to him in the last four years,” she [niece Mary Trump] told Insider on Thursday.
“How is he managing without Twitter? Because even he must realize that people really aren’t paying attention to him in the same way,” she said.
“Clearly, this stuff with the Republican party is helping him because imagine if he didn’t have that. If he had become as irrelevant as every other person who loses an election becomes, then I think his mental state would be much different.”
…
Mary Trump also dismissed the possibility of Trump standing for re-election in 2024, telling Insider that he was merely using the possibility of standing in order to “keep grifting” from his supporters.
“It’s all about maintaining the grip on power. He thinks on some level it’s going to allow him to continue to operate with impunity as he has done his whole life, and also it’s going to allow him to keep grifting money off of people,” she said.
So the Republican sycophants are playing right into his (tiny) hands: they keep making it possible for him to make money off what little political oomph he has left.

A group called Proud Patriots is charging nearly $30 for what they call a “2021 Inauguration” $2 bill. The display holder for the bill has Trump’s name and face on it. Trump lost the election to President Joe Biden.
The website also lists a half-dollar coin and labels it as a “Still My President” authentic half-dollar. One side of the coin appears to have a picture of Trump and the phrase “Still My President.”
Republican Dogs, which has multiple pro-Trump goods for pets, is selling a Trump 2024 flag for $15.95. The flag reads “Make Votes Count Again,” echoing a similar false complaint by Trump that the election was stolen from him and that votes were not counted. Federal and state officials have said no such problems occurred during the 2020 contest.
I Love My Freedom is promoting the sale of a T-shirt for around $25 that says “Jesus Is My Savior” and “Trump Is My President.”

I might consider buying some doggie poop bags with trumpy’s face on them. But I’d want his face on the INSIDE where the poop goes. And the profits would have to go to the ACLU or ASPCA or heck, just about any legitimate charity.
According to a permit filed with the town of Palm Beach, Florida, Big Dog Ranch Rescue estimates it will spend $225,000 at the club where Donald Trump has taken up full-time residence since leaving the White House. All the profit from that spending winds up in his pocket.
You know those disaster movies where there’s an earthquake and/or a tidal wave and the highways buckle, bridges crumble, and chasms open in the ground-- but it’s all in slow motion?
That’s how I want this to play out, in agonizing (for him, not for us) drop-by-drop torture. Death by a thousand legal-paper cuts. Being beaten into oblivion by the gavels of many judges. Maybe that Hamilton guy can turn it into a horror opera with a happy ending for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. That could earn him a Noble [sic] Prize for Broadway Shows Based on Real Life.

The district attorney is sifting through millions of pages of his [trumpy’s] tax records. The state attorney general has subpoenaed his lawyers, his bankers, his chief financial officer — even one of his sons.
And that’s just in New York. Former president Donald Trump is also facing criminal investigations in Georgia and the District of Columbia related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. And Trump must defend himself against a growing raft of lawsuits: 29 are pending at last count…
He has lost the formal immunities of the presidency and the legal firepower of the Justice Department, but he is also without some of the informal shields that protected him even before he was president: his reputation for endless wealth and his clout as a political donor in New York.
Now, prosecutors roam free in his financial records. New lawsuits keep arriving. Some of his key lawyers have quit. A man who once used the law to swamp his enemies, overwhelming them with claims and legal bills, is finding himself on the other side of the wave, unable to control what comes next.

Suh-weet! Couldn’t happen to a more appropriate MF loser asshole.
What I’d prefer is that he’d sue only one that says something negative about him. And then, since he didn’t go after everyone else, he’d lose his trademark entirely.
This is post-clusterfuck, but happy news. And for once I can be proud of my Texas hometown.
When he was in office, President Donald J. Trump often complained that he felt battered and under assault, but that did not compare with the physical beating a wax statue of the former president recently endured at a Texas attraction.
The figure of Mr. Trump had been punched and scratched so much lately that it was removed from display for repairs this week at the attraction, Louis Tussaud’s Palace of Wax in San Antonio.
…
Assaults on the wax figure of Mr. Trump became more frequent during the election last year. Even after the statue was moved to the lobby — where attendants could see it — the jabs and scratches did not stop, according to The San Antonio Express-News, which reported on the removal of the figure.
Mr. Trump’s figure was on display in a city that voted decidedly blue in the last election, in a state that stands out as a Republican stronghold.
…
Leaving aside for a moment the travesty of having this stupid, touristy “palace of wax” on Alamo Plaza along with Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum, and other atrocities. In years past, this was a normal shopping area. And politicians wonder why locals have abandoned downtown. Tourists alone do not create a vibrant downtown. Whatever. [/rant]
Did you know that Will Rogers named San Antonio one of America’s Four Unique Cities* along with Boston, New Orleans, and San Francisco? Of course, the rest of Texas ignores us, but we’re fine with that. Austin went through a period of being wonderfully charming in the early 80s, but now it’s out of control in population, congestion, cost of living, and just plain being full of itself.
*That might be apocryphal. Yeah, I know. You can’t have four unique things.
