Post count meaningless? Bollocks!

I say it’s bollocks.
What do you say?

i have a higher post count, Kneal before Zod!!

::cough::

Post count, other than figuring out if someone is new to posting or not, is usually not much of an indicator of anything other than how many posts a person has. For example, Lynn Bodoni has a post count c. 2200, and handy has a post count approaching 13K, I think. It would be a mistake, IMO, to measure anything other than “how many posts has this person had?” by this number.

Oh wait, I get it NOW…

I met Kneal once. Nice guy. His brother Steev is okay too . . .

Tripler
But I say Zod before Kneal!

SO there are people who have high post counts because they post a lot of tripe.
That, is an anomoly. My argument is that the SDMB changes people. If a person has a high post count then they have likely been through the sdmb-mill. they have become at least a little bit more diplomatic, tolerant, respectful than they were before. Especially people who lacked those qualities before they joined the sdmb.

I was going to put the above expanation in the op, but for reasons I don’t quite know - I decided it looked better as

i misspelled that on purpose to help you all pad your postcounts. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

What’s a post count?

I’m new.

But I’m lkely to have more than a thousand within a month.

and why would I care?

and what is “padding”

You should care because I’m the king!

(I realize what you wre doing)

btw, I really like pie.

But the problem lies within the post count. Some people (sometimes newbies, sometimes just random lurkers) will say, “hey, poster XXX has X[sup]10[/sup] posts under his/her belt. This must mean something.

And it really doesn’t. When you get down to brass tacks, it all comes down to quality, not quantity.
Like this post, for example.
