I let my membership lapse. Just wasn’t inclined to pay for it. The non-paying posting is back, yay!
According to the info at the top right of the screen I last visited: 05-04-2004 at 10:39 PM. So it has been more then 4 years since this board went to p2p. During that time I would check back once every few months, usually if I was bored and had nothing much to do.
Hopefully this board wouldn’t be as clique-ish and insular with all the new blood. It honestly seemed like every thread was a repeat for a while there.
Now back to lurking!
I’ve been skulking about the forums since 2001, I think.
I have issues with shyness. 
I have been an occasional lurker. When it was the AltFanCecilAdams group I lurked more than posted. Even a Yahoo groups family forum an uncle started thinks I’m more of a Lurker than a member. I’ll probably jump in from time to time now that I know guest users can post.

Nope, you are sucked in forever now. 
I posted for a couple of years (I think) before PTP and paid twice, had a “falling out” with the PTB and left in a huff (actually it was a minute and a huff) swearing that I would never come back.

I’ve been lurking since AOL days, and also posted quite frequently for years. When it went to paid membership, I just lurked and toyed with the idea of joining up. But for some reason, I simply could not seem to make it through the registration process. My name and password and all that simply wouldn’t go through. I’d try, try again every couple of months. Now I’m a ‘guest’ after many many many many many many tries, and I am just happy to be here.
(picking out those bleary letters in the little spam thwarting box was HARD!!!)
I paid once, vowed I’d never pay to post again. And hey, I haven’t! Go me.

I joined the boards before pay to post, and while I was never a prolific poster, I did manage to type a few things out. I considered paying for the posting privileges several times, but I didn’t have the money free before the “Charter Member” status discount lapsed.
I never left, I always read the Dope religously but I am happy that pay to post is gone so I can post again.
